I know I've mentioned Kevin O'Leary in the past. Guess who's getting into Canadian politics.

Maybe it's contagious

If he has a chance of beating Trudeau in the next election, I'm a supporter. None of the other Conservative leadership hopefuls seem to have what it takes to do that right now.

Personally, someone could form a piece of Play Doh into a form somewhat resembling a human shape and I'd vote for it over Trudeau.

Having said that, I'll wait to hear O'Leary's policies are before I get too excited. Right now, all we know of him is the character he played on TV.

Despite our current "leader"  uglystupid2, I still think Canada is already "great".  Sure there's always things that could change for the better, but it's easy to just complain and sound off without actually working for change.... I' m not sure having another celebrity PM (which Trudeau basically is) is the answer. The position of PM is more than just making business deals and offering catchy quotes to the fawning media. I thought Steven Harper was a very good PM and would prefer someone in the same mold to take over as PC leader and lead them back to government. Someone who isn't in it for the attention or who relies on some sort of celebrity status, but rather a good a decent person who has the necessary experience, knowledge, ability to work with others, and moral fabric to lead without just forcing their own personalIty or personal social preferences on the populace of the country. This is where Steven Harper shone in my opinion....not concerned with celebrity, just doing the job we elected and paid him to do for the most part.
Media and large portions of the North American populace is so concerned with celebrity these days, that plain old good smart, hard working, and moral people are not considered  electible or adequate for the positions we elect to lead our country....this is how we wound up with Trudeau  uglystupid2 uglystupid2    OLeary might be OK and would certainly be an improvement over what we have, but I beleive there has to be other, hopefully better choices as well.

Agree with you again Mike.  cooldude

I think Andrew Scheer is what you describe but honestly, I don't know if he can beat Trudeau...because of the reasons you mentioned...not flashy and not a sound-bite kinda guy. Yes, it's very sad that that is seen as a negative.

Sadly,, you can be one of those "hard working" middle class people and if you don't have money,, you will not have a chance of running. So now it must be "hard working" "middle class" "with money".
Now you are not considered "middle class"  anymore since you have money. Then to top all that off if the media decides to do a smear campaign on you,, then you know what happens. "Fake News" prevails.
They can find stuff on anybody to run with because we have all done "stupid stuff" at one time or other,, and they can go back and find stuff we have said and "walla" they hit the jackpot.

We are coming to a day when the only person qualified that they could find nothing on is Jesus Christ himself, because he is the only "Blameless" person that ever lived.

Agree with what you say here Wizzard.  I have nothing against wealthy people in politics, and in fact prefer  so meone who has proven to be financially successful or otherwise productive in their own right to be the leader of the party I support.... and hopefully lead our country,  province,  municipality,  etc.  Like I said,  we had someone decent for almost 10 years... plenty of negative press and opinions were spread his way,  but if you take everything into account,  Canada did pretty well over that period of time... which is really all one can or should expect of a leader or government. All the  "crap"  that is media hype and as you say Fake News  is just a waste of what otherwise could be productive time.

I offer no comment or opinion on the choices US citizens make regarding their politicians,  as it is irrelevant. I do though,  truly hope that your new government performs well for your country.  A healthy US is good not only for US citizens,  but for  my business and personal  financial well being and for Canada overall as well. I just think that Canada itself is  better served by having someone with a different personality than Kevin O'Leary as PM.

Beardo.... FYI... I too,  would vote for a lump of Play Dough over our current PM  Wink

Now to give this post some MC-related content.... upon returning from Toronto this AM,  it appears that our fling with real Winter here in SW BC is finally over... looking forward to giving the old Valk the attention she deserves... hopefully a short little ride this weekend is in store  cooldude

I said it before, I'm not political, I don't follow it, but I do vote, it is my right, and I choose to exercise that right.

I was a protest voter, due to the firearms regulations that where brought in back in the early 1990's. When they formed up with the PC, I came along too. The Firearm Long gun registry was removed, and I stayed with them.

For some strange reason, Trudeau got voted in, I figure just on the name recognition.

I've always thought we should vote in our member or parliament, and they should "hire" someone to run the country, just like a CEO of a company, just on a larger scale.

O'Leary, don't know him, never watched the show. But he's a business leader, someone I want to run the country like a business. A Not-for-Profit one, just enough to pay the bills and break out even each year.

No different than I need to run my own house hold.

I'd like to see the U.S. run that way also. Maybe with a little held back for the bad times that always seem to come..

For myself, I try to pay the bills and have a little left over for those rainy day/leaky roof situations.
