how does one pull one or more posters comments out of a thread without going to the bottom of the thread?

If you click on a persons handle it will go to their profile page, then at the bottom it says look at the last posts of this person, click on that and you will have only that persons posts.

Well, if you want to quote an earlier poster in YOUR post, hit QUOTE instead of REPLY to start your reply.  Then their post will appear above what you intend to type. I do this all the time, and if their post is long, I highlight the particular words in their post I am responding to (in yellow and italics).

This can be done for multiple earlier posters, but I don't know how.

And obviously, you can always copy and paste an earlier poster's post (in whole or in part), into your post.
