As of this morning , there were 37 deaths or killings. A real record to be proud of.
My wife goes to court in Chi-town (today) on occasion , and I hope nothing goes wrong. I go with when I can , but it is not always possible.

My apologies to those that call these cities home but I do understand why cities such as Chicago and Detroit are not sought after holiday vacation spots.    I don't understand why folks wish to visit places like LA and NYC.    Just never made sense to me.   Then again, not everyone has been shot at.   coolsmiley

and here we are with the strictest gun laws in the USA with the most murders. Take away your stupid gun laws and give the people the opportunity to protect themselves. I'll never visit chicago, my wife wants to go shopping up there for a weekend and i told her we need to go buy her a casket and burial plot before she goes.  Evil

Guess again, Rammy.

Chicago and Detroit are BOTH destination locations.

Never heard a single person ever claim Frankfort, KY was a desirealble destination, though.

Frankfort, with all all its crack heads and meth heads running around, is on no ones "holiday vacation" list.

I'll just leave this here:

http://www.theonion.com/article/city-chicago-working-around-clock-clear-18-inches--54833

The best part is that even though it's from The Onion, even though it's so incredibly obvious this is satire... Enough people evidently thought it was true that Snopes felt they had to address this article:

I would love to have a holiday vacation in and around Frankfort, KY...

It's part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, with Buffalo Trace distillery right there, Woodford Reserve, Jim Beam/Suntory, Wild Turkey and others right around it.

I agree both Chicago and Detroit are tourist destinations. Frankfort only because of the Bourbon Trail. Which i plan on doing this summer on the bike.

Rammy?  Oh Good Lord........   coolsmiley

No defense offered for crackhead or meth heads, most locations have their share, that includes Detroit.   My bet is, there are more there than here but, again I'm not defending any of them.

In reference to Detroit, it's one of the few places I transport to or from on a frequent basis.   It's also one of the few places I won't go without a weapon.    It is, what it is.   Personal experience, yours may be different, you may not go to the same areas I've delivered to, I don't know.   What I do know is when the owner of said transported vehicle tells me to stay close to him and things will be alright, I pay attention.    When I am trying to load or unload and get surrounded by a group of unfriendly faces and feel threatened by their spoken words and intimidating actions, I'm not all that excited to be there.    Not meant as a personal hit, sorry you took it that way but, as I said, it is, what it is.

Relaxing the gun laws in Chicago will not lower the fatalities,  BUT, it may allow law abiding citizens to protect themselves and family more than they can now.

Cities like Chicago are the result of decades of neglect. Neglect of children, allowing the streets to raise them. Single parent households, if any parents at all. Lack of respect for life, kids have nothing to look forward to in their minds. Decades of welfare has none nothing to raise their self esteem. The public education system in Chicago SUCKS! Need I mention DRUGS & GANGS.

Obviously I am just pointing out some of the issues that have lead to the fatalities, it would be impossible to list them all, nor would I like to try. These issues are not going to be changed quickly, it will take nearly as long to repair that city as it took to ruin it.

I was born and raised on the south side, the best decision I have made in my lifetime was moving my family out of there.

Just happen  Roll Eyes to live in meth and mary jane central here in the Sho Me. We have No where NEAR the killings most/many Major Metro areas suffer with. BUT here in the Sho Me we DO have Legal C C W and as of the first of 2017 Constitutional Carry. Naturally you DO NOT want to stumble into a meth cookers area or a mary jane growers area either. You WILL be outgunned. I can't elaborate on the problems they face but I'm guessin here will take a LONG time to git it all cleaned up. I can not EVEN begin to imagine all those years on welfare and nuttin to look forward to but more of the same.  Cry  RIDE SAFE.

The biggest problem is the generations of welfare. All the people know is Welfare because Momma got and granmomma got it, so now I got it. Folks have no reason to worry about an education or job because a free check and EBT card and housing will always be there.
No able bodied person should be on any kind of public assistance, getting pregnant when you are 16 should not get you a medicaid card and WIC and EBT and a check for life, getting pregnant a second time should not get you a raise in benefits, but it does.
Being stressed out, having anxiety issues, being an alcoholic or drug addict should not get you a free SS disability check and all the other benefits that go along with it either. Especially if you have never contributed to the SS system in the first place.
This whole entitlement system needs to go.
If all the non working people of Chicago stopped getting free crap and got jobs, alot of the crime would stop.

Guys, around here we are fond of saying "Detroit vs. everybody". If you aren't from here, you'll never understand. If you are, it makes perfect sense.

Well, this should be interesting...

The libertarian/state's rights side of me is kinda worried, the law and order of me side is applauding...

Trump just put out on Twitter:

"If Chicago doesn't fix the horrible "carnage" going on, 228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds!"

Lived in the shadow of Chicago all my life. Was an insurance adjuster for one of the major insurers here in the US. My job was handling major fire losses for the company. We hired off duty cook County sheriff's officers as body guards way back in the 80's and early 90's. Was bad back then. Never ventured into the city limits other than business till I moved to Florida  in 2000. Don't miss it one  bit. Saw many a beautiful buildings destroyed in area of 55th and State south side. No one accused  us of redlining, never could figure why underwriting approved some of those properties for coverage.  Thank God they were actual cash value  policies with low limits.

Final 2016 Totals

Shot & Killed: 716
Shot & Wounded: 3663
Total Shot: 4379
Total Homicides: 798

The total killed and homicides are bad.

But the total shot and wounded, and total shot are incredible.

But I am confused, according to this 716 persons were shot, but not wounded.  How does one get shot, but not wounded?   This is really no laughing matter, but WTF?

And how in the world do they get anyone to serve on the PD?

And I am disagreeing with Donald on this one, no feds or army or huge fed resources should be spent or used.  It's a pure democratic party creation of 100+ years, let them arm up and go in and fix it.

The culture of the underclass is completely out of control and ridiculous. One tiny example from three hours ago:

Came on shift, afternoon-turn had an arrest of a guy who decided to run (in vehicle) from us because his license was suspended and had pills in the car. Drove THROUGH a beer/wine drive-thru store at about 40 mph, bailed, and took off running. Our guys caught him about 200 yards away in a muddy ditch.

Bio:

25 years old

got out 1 1/2 weeks ago from 2 years in prison for drug trafficking

been shot 10 times (saw the scars)

has fathered 10 kids

Side note: his latest girlfriend, who lives near where he dumped the car (was trying to get her car back to her) came out an pitched a fit that her car was being towed (didn't say nothing about BF in cuffs). Was about 3 seconds away from getting locked up as well.

Welfare, workfare, probation, drug treatment, counseling, drug court, house arrest, jail, prison.... name it.... nothing works and nobody truly cares anymore. Think about it.... you are witnessing the fall of western civilization and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Not Chicago, but in our little ER we had a guy shot  awhile back. I had the task of going through and bagging his stuff, looking for ID. In his wallet was ID, a Federal Prison Inmate card, an EBT card, a letter from Medicaid saying he was approved and now has Medicaid, one of those pre-paid Mastercards that SS uses to pay you, and he had a new Galaxy S7. He was young, built like a truck, had no disabilities, turns out it was over drug transaction issues. So now being a criminal entitles you to all the free crap???
