Monday was a rare beautiful day and I was itching to ride. Left the house a little late and without knowing where I was going. Rode through Harlingen thinking maybe I would head west towards Rio Grande City then take ranch roads home, I have done that many times, but for some reason I turned north and headed across the King's Ranch. Where I live it is about 100 miles just to escape the home town gravity, anyway ended up on the south side of Corpus Christi close to the naval station. Stopped for lunch then explored their Padre Island and afterwards Mustang Island, this was new area for me!
At the north end of Mustang Island I came to Port Aransas, cruised that little town for a while then found they have ferry boat service back to the mainland, wow! Sounds like fun, Texas has a ferry boat service! and it's free! Anyway, got in line to ride the ferry and I heard a motorcycle ride up behind me. I turned slightly and waved hello, but it wasn't until he pulled up beside me I realized it was a fellow Valk rider, WHAT!! I yelled another Valkyrie never seen that except when we meet for the Hill Country ride. He said his handle was Bulldozer and I believe he was from Alberta. We were not able to talk much, but I understood he was down here working. Looked like he was on a standard, he said he bought it new.
Anyway the boat ride was only a few minutes and we went our seperate ways, but that was my first encounter with another Valk rider at my end! Made it home just after dark, but was a memory making 366 mile ride!
