We're getting blasted by registration requests from verified spammers.  They're currently ranging from seven to eighteen per day, mostly from the former Soviet Union.

This morning we had fifteen requests.  Fourteen were spammers.  We must be perceived to be a particularly attractive market.  Reputed to be overly gullible, do you think?

You guys be careful out there.

Yes.  We need to be considerate as we have legitimate members from eastern Europe.

It seems that anything to do with motorcycles attracts these people for some reason. I put my Harley on Craigs List a week ago and was bombarded as well. All wanting to use pay pal, will send someone to pick up the bike, mispelled  words and the names they use are rediculous.  It's too bad honesty isn't at a premium anymore.

You're absolutely sure that wasn't an average, weekend warrior Harley rider?   Wink

I was told a while back that the phrase "eastern Europe" is "pejorative" so be aware the PC has gone that far

I'm not at all concerned with PC.  I am very interested in being considerate and respectful.

I think the kicker was when I told them that I had a bad experience with pay pal and didn't trust it anymore.  Then I told them I  was retired LE and had a trust issue when dealing with that much money and preferred to deal in person. I got no response of any kind from that point on. Go figure.

Wow... it's getting a bit crazy.

Oddly enough, my email firewall hasn't been getting all that much lately.  Last year, however, it was getting hammered with 20-30 spam hits per day for a few months.

I mis-typed a URL on my computer yesterday and had a Microsoft-looking web page with a pop-up message appear saying my computer was infected and all my credit card information was being shared.  It instructed me to call a phone number, and if I closed the window with out calling my computer would be disabled.  I shut it down, no problems yet.

Your response was proper. You will not have any problems unless you hit that site again.
