This bike in mint condition are worth much more here in Norway. If it's like description, this is a very good deal.

Bout the worse beating in a drag race was against a CBX. I had a 900 Kawi bored to 1100(?) and it hauled. Three tries , three losses.

Nice rocket ship. We were riding in 1983 in So. Cal. south Orange county. A fellow had just gotten one, not in our group. We stopped at Cline's corner for a snack and a soda. They left before we did after much oooh and ahh ing. A few miles later we came across them again. The proud owner was just coming out of the canyon, but his bike was waaaay down there. Probably still is.

I am glad you are happy with your purchase.
Personally, I wouldn't spend that kind of cash on it.

When the Suzuki GS1100EX came out in 1980 EVERYTHING else got a whole lot slower including the CBX . First 'actual' bike anyone could get it to go 11.00's in 1/4 @ 120 absolutely bone dead stock, they handled too. I ran away from CBX's , Kawasaki's like they hit the brakes . Just show'n 'em what fast really was.

actually, specs on the cbx vs the suzuki are pretty much dead even. 1/4 mile times.
1979 Honda CBX 11.36 118.11 mph (190.08 km/h)[68]
1980 Suzuki GS1100E 11.39 118.42 mph (190.58 km/h)[69]

I was up in Marysville today. A client is a satellite of the Honda Research and Development Americas, Raymond, OH. They are in a warehouse of sorts and share forklift space with another company that ships large crates to Japan. Sitting right there was a CBX. Man was it a beautiful red and looked close to showroom except for a little yellow on the pipes that would easily clear with Blue Job. I got to drool over it for a spell and tried to find out who owns it and where was it going, but no one was around that knew.
Congrats on your purchase DAG. they are beauty's.

11.55 was quickest time recorded for CBX in stock trim. The 1980 GS1100 was the slowest of the GS series. They had a valve seat issue with the angles on the seats, that was fixed on the 1981 and later models . 11.18 was quickest time for 1981 GS1100 . 1983 GS1100 went 10.93. The 1985 GS1150 went 10.64 @ 124 The 1981 Kawasaki GPZ recorded 11.11 (magazines) but would not do that in the real world . Nobody could get one to do that, that I ever saw. Same with the CBX and the Kawasaki's also the Yamaha XS1100 11.50's was about it. They were just slower than the GS's at the drag strips across America . In all the racing I did then I never Had a Honda anything including the Honda Magna V65(1100) CBX, Kawasaki GPS/Z1/KZ1000 outrun me. A good friend had a 1981 Kawaski GPZ1100 nice bike I liked it a good runner but he never beat me and he tried many times. Just my experiences. Roadog
