Someone dropped a fuel filter in and couldn't be bothered to fish it out?
Hmmm maybe not.
Are those solid metal pieces?
What does the other end look like?

Nope, no markings. I was thinking the scam thing also, maybe to stop gas from going south.

Part of a valve from a gas nozzle from a gas station? Never had one apart so not sure what parts they have in them.

I don't know about that, I've never seen anything like that on a gas pump. The bike IS from Pennsylvania, but their gas pumps didn't seem all that different from the ones around here.

I know what it is, sorta. It was a gas treatment device of some sort, designed to be dropped in a tank and left. It was supposed to work doing what it did (dunno) for a long time.
Found it. https://www.carid.com/fitch-fuel-catalyst/

(these won't clicky. Highlight, right click, open in a new tab, opens)

Cool Jess, nice find Site says two for $51.00, anyone one want one for, let's say, $12.50, you pay shipping? It's going on the shelf, let whoever cleans out my garage, whenever, figure out what it is also.

It's even pricier on their website: https://www.carid.com/fitch-fuel-catalyst/drop-in-tank-fuel-catalyst.htmlI do think this comes with some kind of fuel filter thingy as well.

I think I saw one of those in an older JC Whitney catalog. It's what Meathead said I do believe and used to enhance fuel mileage.

From the site: Features:
Increases fuel economy Increases horsepower and torque for improved performance Reduces emissions Boosts gasoline octane rating and diesel cetane rating Makes fuel burn cleaner, extends engine oil life Reduces engine carbon deposits Reduces engine fuel system and injector maintenance Maintains fuel quality during extended periods of storage Installs directly into the fuel tank Improvements verified in numerous national publications Maintenance-free and warranted for 250,000 miles or 5,000 operating hours (the lifetime of the engine)
Wow, try it as a suppository. Can't hurt (probably).

10 years ago they were all over eBay under Valkyrie parts and accessories. Can't believe someone actually bought one.

Kind of like the toylet paper oil filter back in the 50's and 60's, could kind of grab on to the thinking would stablize fuel but to improve milage and such? I talked to a guy in local Lowes parking lot one day selling hydrogen generators for your vehicle. said would produce hydrogen release it into air intake of your vehicle and they modified your fuel control to lean out fuel and save on gas. more hydrogen cells less fuel. said could add several to almost minimize complete use of gas while driving? Also saw video of a steel cutting torch setup run on hydrogen would cut steel instantly like plasma cutter and saw water running off as it cut. Said could run flame over hand and not burn you. artle said he hooked it up to a vehicle and ran 100 miles on a pint or qt of water. was planning to meet with congressional leaders and present invention to them. But just like the pill in your gas tank and add water and may other things all disapear.
