6 more weeks of winter

AP- The handlers of Pennsylvania's most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, said the furry rodent has "predicted" six more weeks of winter after seeing his shadow at dawn Thursday.

Immediately after the prediction, thousands of people protested and rioted. Phil was immediately taken by State Troopers to an undisclosed location.

A shadow recount was demanded. More shadows were discovered. No one knows what that means.

Hollywood icons called for boycott of Pennsylvania businesses. Twitter posts of #notmyPunxsutawneyPhil and #notmyshadow were trending.

Democrat Senators vowed legislation to prohibit shadows while supporting legislation against shadowphobes.

Refugee supporters condemned the Rodent for supporting 6 more weeks of winter. "These refugees do not need to be subjected to 6 weeks of snow and freezing temperatures. Think of the women and children.  Punxsutawney Phil has no compassion"

President Trump signed an Executive Order temporarily banning Punxsutawney Phil from being allowed outside for 120 days. "By that time it'll be summer and it won't matter. Problem solved. On time and under budget" said Trump.

"Then we will build a wall around Punxsutawney Phil so high, so yuge, it will block out the sun and no shadows. It will be greatly incredible. On time and under budget. Way under. And Canada will pay for it."

If we could get to the printer quickly enough we could make some big money selling Serk dart boards.   ;)

I don't think winter started in Indiana yet. Got about 7" of snow in Jan and a few 10 deg days but that's it. A lot of rain and temps 30-45 so far. Bring on the snow and - deg days.   ;)

Winter has Not ONLY been banned it will now be deported if a bill introduced by democrats pass both houses. President Trump is expected to veto this bill if in fact it does pass both houses. Strong republican dissent is expected. More at 10 P M tonight on your local channels. RIDE SAFE.

I would like to know how they get ONLY 6 more weeks of winter?  My cycle does NOT come out until April 1st or so, that makes near 8 more weeks, NOT 6... :'(

As said,  TONS of freezing rain and more so rain than snow this winter making conditions even worse to drive in.  Last week we had once over 1 inch of brief but downpouring heavy sleety rain to drive in the morning never experienced it ever like this, which caused all kinds of slippery road conditions.    Snow tires help a tad on ice, but would much rather of had 6 inches of snow vs. 1 inch or freezing rain.

Heh, sorry to keep going, but just found this one, cracked me up...

You guys do know that most of you don't live in Pennsylvania?   :uglystupid2:

The tradition stems from a practice of the other settlers to use the movement of groundhogs to indicate when it was right to start the springtime farming activities.  The superstition about seeing or not seeing its shadow is just silly nonsense but it has made some folks a good deal of money.

Moonshot_1

A good deal of money? Maybe there needs to be a superstition at Inzane!

Submit ideas for a money making superstitions right here!

Do a 50/50 on number of shadows of Oss's secretary applicants!

This tradition started back in Europe maybe as far back as the Roman occupation of England.  For the Pennsylvania Dutch or German back in the old country this was based on the movements of the hedgehog.  In PA they found the numerous ground hogs like enough to keep the tradition going.

I enjoy seeing those mounds of snow in CO and OR.  The mass of west coast snow has alleviated the horribly long lasting CA drought, at least in the north and will provide badly needed water for the Central Valley farmers.  For us it switched the jet stream from the dastardly Artic instead to a more west to east function and has ( except for first 3 weeks of Dec. ) been most mild.  Snow blower still sits in the shed and only pushed 2 inches of snow one.  Normally winter is pretty much over come start of March and will be able to go riding tomorrow.  I just hope no replay of 2010 when Feb. brought us record 35 inches, or 2014 and 15 when that new word Polar Vortex brought more sub zero weather than I had ever seen, but I am a wuzzy compared to our great friends to the North that have  that strange sort of English dialect.

Well... you northerners may have more winter coming, but us southerners are gonna be warm soon!

Mr. Pierre C. Shaddeaux (our resident Nutria) saw no shadow!!  Early spring for us!!!  :cooldude:
