Found and bought a 2000 Valkyrie standard, red and black with Leatherlyke bags, a windshield, and aux tank on the luggage rack. Windshield and aux tank will be coming off as soon as I get it home (temps in the 20s today and tomorrow, didn't feel like riding in the cold when its supposed to be upper 50s Monday and Tuesday).

Wanted to say hello, introduce myself and say thanks for the information that I'm sure I'll be gleaning from this forum.

Congrats on the new ride.  There are several guys around your neighborhood.  JoevalkIS puts on a great ride over your way each year. I have not been able to make this ride yet but try every year. Welcome aboard  cooldude

Hello and enjoy. It's all hear. Search is also your friend when it comes time to find info on repairs and the like.

You can add you location into your profile, so it's there for all to see. A lot of help can come your way too.

Welcome. You should come to Billings MT in June for our national Valkyrie rally. You wouldn't regret it.  cooldude

Welcome...

The windshield, or perhaps its hardware, might be desirable

I'm not planning on selling the windshield. The P/O had a blue tinted Memphis Fats on a red and black bike. I'll replace it with a clear shield (although I'm considering a fairing instead) for highway riding...just have to lose the blue thing immediately.

Ah well... it is the OEM windshield hardware that is unobtainable...

Welcome to the land of Valkyries.    I sold the 1998 STD. To a friend. I now own a 2014 Valkyrie 1832, and love it........ I missed haveing 2 bikes in the garage so went on the hunt. Could not afford the $ FOR another 1500 so did the next best thing. I worked at a Honda shop back in the early 1970s and that is when Honda came out with the fist Goldwing........ well I found one a gorgeous 1975 GL1000 with only 18350 miles on it. And it was RED. My favorite color and the price was right only $1000, 00. Of course the carbs had to be cleaned and now I have had the valve covers, carb tubes, and the front belt covers powder coated RED. I am in the prosses of putting them back on and they look GREAT!!!! can't wait for spring to get here to show off this beautiful machine. Pictures on request.  My e-mail is  blondie5052@gmail.com

If you might be considering a fairing for later, you can NOT go wrong with a Woody fairing.  They are a very nice, high quality fairing.  He makes them specific for our Valkyries.  They are NOT a one size fits all fairing...and he doesn't have a bunch of them sitting around on a shelf in a warehouse somewhere either.  He makes them one at a time to your order.  He's a great guy and is easy to work with over the phone and can do whatever you may or may not want in your fairing.

Also, they're a fiberglass fairing...NOT plastic like some.  So if any boo boo's ever happen to it, you can get it repaired most anywhere.

Also...any three hole Harley windshield from Harley or any other aftermarket manufacturer also works with the Woodys...so you have plenty to chose from.  You'll want to shop for shields that fit Harley years from 1996 to 2013.

Personally, I recommend these two dealers (I have a couple of the Fast Aire Aero shields myself).

That happens to be the days right after my family reunion in Lincoln, NE.  From Lincoln, I'll be heading up to International Falls, MN and following the Canadian border (with a side trip down to Theodore Roosevelt Nat'l Park) over to Sweetgrass, MN (at I-15) before heading down to Great Falls for the weekend of July 4th.  From there, I'll head back home with trips through Little Bighorn and the Mount Rushmore areas, arriving back home 31 days and about 6000 miles later. Unfortunately, this will be done in my car, as I have a lung condition requiring oxygen use, and I don't feel confident taking long trips on a bike anymore.
