It happened today at the White House.

Too bad none of those Harley's say made in the USA on them like most of our Valkyrie's say on the side of the engine.

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!  T.P.

Well that kink of answers my post from yesterday.  Had no idea about using H1B visa's at Harley.    This is going on big time in the Silicon Valley.  I remember 2 maybe 3 years ago several IT specialist at some big Silicon Valley firms calling into the Herman Cain show and stressing because they were training their H1B replacements before they were let go.  Their replacements were going to work for far less money.  Seems to be the theme of the past 20 years.   I do not know if there is a shortage of IT or not.  I do know my wife's best friend has been in IT since graduating from Miami University, Ohio in the 80s.   She was doing great, had a 2 to 3 hundred K townhouse in the Denver suburb of Aurora, then things went south about 7 years ago.  She could not find a job for almost 5 years and lost most everything.  Finally got a job with the city or state 2 years ago.  I suspect there are many thousands like her.   These companies are sitting on many millions of cash.  Instead of looking outside, perhaps they should look inward.  How about training the people for these jobs, especially inner city kids that want to work and get out of there horrible situations.   They do not need a total college education.  You can just train them in this field like technical schools.

On another note - does not Harley outsource many components for those Harley's from India and China.  I have heard 50 percent, but I really do not know.  Maybe someone here knows.

Besides some on the left the only ones you hear complaining about the ban, enough to put some money behind it is most of the tech companies like Apple and others. They actually warned their employees before the law went into effect to, come back now. I have heard of many loosing their jobs and having to train their replacements. Some like the posts above when going through training could have never foreseen the swing in labor markets after picking a carer. I think its pretty disgraceful and only highlights the problems of open boarders and the greed of companies.

On the flip side in favor of the companies the responsibilities to the share holders, the legislation's and taxes make for the US a real problem. This is also another example of what happens when government legislates perks for business then tries to protect the workers. Lets see if Trump can unwind this for a more open market based system with worker and business protections and rewards that actually make sense. Obama could not do this because he was interested in bringing the US into the global economy and taking away the wealth of the US. Trump has a much different goal.
