THIS is why we need to stay vigilant on the roads nowadays!

https://youtu.be/ksPRXokdKyo

I'd like to blame the manufacturers, but it's  good old supply and demand.  The consumers want their tech 24-7-365, and the auto makers gladly supply it.  And motorcyclists are more invisible than ever.

Wi-Fi in cars?  Why-fi?   uglystupid2

Insurance is a necessary EVIL, whether car or home or medical.

I have not used ANY in over 25+ years (except for one meniscus knee surgery), so sick of paying thru the roof for very little use FOREVER!   tickedoff

I know hundreds who go to the dr. religiously every few months or so 'just because' even if they do not need to really for minor issues which the Dr. does nothing anyways for.

Then, the ONE time I need it having a high deductible,  hardly anything is covered have to pay fully out of pocket since NEVER in 25+ years have I met the yearly deductible.   tickedoff

Thus,  I religiously keep searching every few years for cheapest insurance out their for home and autos since apparently NO insurance companies want a loyal paying customer who has never filed a claim ever jacking up the rates 15-20% after first 1-2 renewals???   uglystupid2

Progressive for autos who I just switched to less than one month ago might be the next to go with their F'ed up Snapshot devices in another 5 months?   tickedoff

As far as cars go with the techy gadgets,  keep them all for someone else.  Give me power steering, power brakes,  power windows/locks,  tilt wheel, cruise control, radio, and A/C and that is all I ever will want nor need on any vehicle.  Other gadgets may be nice to have, but I choose to live without unlike my neighbor who MUST HAVE that ONE option which most car mfgs. are putting ONLY on the top of the line more expensive trim levels and he is stupid enough to pay 5-10000 more for a package he does not need just to get that one 500 dollar option he wants.   uglystupid2

That ad has been around for a while.

The really stupid "mayhem" commercials are why I will likely never buy Allstate insurance.  They say nothing about why Allstate is better insurance.  They imply that if you don't have Allstate insurance these ridiculous instances won't be taken care of.

We could talk about the meaningless Gieco commercials but I shouldn't get started.

Traffic deaths and accidents are on the rise.  I heard some figure the other day for 2016 and it was substantially higher. I remember for 2015 deaths were up 11 percent.  I see so many folks distracted these days with the high tech toys, and am sure most everyone else does also.

So, who thinks these driverless vehicles ran by computers will be safer than human error?

They are coming that is a given in a few shorts years it seems like.  Not mainstream, but definitely coming soon,  even heard locally that a few vehicles are being tested locally on/around UW campus in Madison WI close by.  I guess I will be staying away from that area which I avoid anyways.

Wi-fi in vehicles, in my opinion, is one of the stupidest ideas that has come around lately.  One thing that should be standard in my opinion is blind spot monitor mirrors of some sort, even if it is just a small round/oblong mini-mirror built into the outside side mirrors.  Once wi-fi becomes standard eqmt. in vehicles might be the time to stop driving becoming too dangerous on the roads??

I despise government over-regulation, but sometimes it is necessary...

I think that any new vehicle, along with safety crash testing, it should be required that you can demonstrate that you can change the radio station then turn up the fan or heat, etc, without taking your eyes off the road for more than 1 second. These touch screens that have heat, navigation, stereo, iPhone apps, etc, on the same screen are terrible. You have to go through several menus/screens to get from one thing to the other. In my truck, I can change up fan, heat, stereo volume, radio station, etc, without even looking because it is a physical knob for all of them.

First insurance I ever had was Allstate. I was up in Washington State with my 1968 Z/28 for a short time. My bedroom was over the carport. Car was stolen right out from under me.
Allstate out and out accused me of having my car stolen on purpose! It was recovered. A$$holes tried to get it across a ditch to the woods to strip it and it didn't make it across. Trans bellhousing was broken, trans case broken, bent valves, and all four corners banged up.
Never again Allstate! Wonder how much money they have lost on me to date.........

That closely follows my first experience with Allstate when my 67' dodge van was stolen (also my first insurer).  I was 18 and they offered me like $400.  I had to fight and threaten to sue to get some more (not much more).  Their regional rep lived down the street (real Ahole too).  Several days later he went out to his car to find 10 bumper stickers on it that said..... Please don't hit me, I'm insured with Allstate.        It's noteworthy that those stickers were readily available, and did not have to be custom ordered.
