We've not gotten too much snow and, as a result, not too much salt on the roads. It's 43 degrees here and I've seen a few bikes out there today. It's supposed to get up to 60 degrees Tuesday but with rain.
If I still had the Vstrom, it would be tempting to ride but with the Miata in storage and most insurance on it withheld, it's out of the question to drive. However the biggest thing is that the Ultra high performance summer tires absolutely do not like temps colder than about 50 degrees. The hardness becomes harder and the 'stickiness' goes away.
I hope that I haven't bent noses out of joint here talking about four wheels instead of two. If I could still ride from a medical point of view, I'd still have the Valkyrie...............and that, I understand, is the only qualification that I need to still be a member on this forum.
C'mon Spring!

ONLY 6+ weeks to go right until April 1st ish or so. If I do not get the Valk out if into 50's by then, I will for sure get the 250cc scooter out since is all plastic except for steel coated rims. Plus, is so much easier to put up and away dirty and grungy from some road salt that will still be on the roads come April 1st or so. At least being 250cc, I can keep up with any traffic no problems, except interstate riding which I do not do too often anyways.
I just got done going to drive thru to power wash by hand 2 of our 3 vehicles to get some of the road salt off of them pretty disgusting first time washing them this winter. Yah, I know I let it go too long even seen a few tiny rust spots coming into the paint (more like surface rust) that will need a good coat of wax come springtime and hope most rusty spots become paint again on 3 year old vehicles.
speaking of 4 wheels, whatever anyone does, please do NOT if live in the midwest where cold temps and snow are bound to happen, get KUMHO SOLUS or for that matter any KUMHO tire that I am aware of since they SUCK big time in the snow with NO traction having way too much hard compound in them slip slidding even on 1cm of snow. I had to either ditch them for winter use and buy new again or buy steel rims and snow tires like I did to make it safe on the road. First time the wife drove her new Hyundai santa fe near new under 4000 miles in the winter she complained she almost slid off the road with the Kumho tires coming from factory (most Hyundai vehicles come stock with KUMHO tires from factory bad idea). I did not believe her until I took it for a spin on less than 1 inch of snow and KUMHO tires are NOT safe in cold/snowy weather. Read any review on them, it is a fact. They do however offer long life say 50-55000 miles treadwear or so being a harder compound, just stink horribly in snowy cold temps.

Wayne , Don't Splain. One of the days we may all end up back on four tires. Your contributions are most welcome and the stories always welcome in my eyes (ears). As long as you can add to this board , just do it.

da prez, yeah I mentioned that as I got a little bent out of shape because someone on this board said that I shouldn't be posting because I no longer ride. I'd hate to give up on all the friends here including you and your brother.

Just turned 70 a few weeks ago and I fear I may be on 4 wheels soon but now waiting for spring to get out and ride. Every sunny day here in Ohio I hear my neighbor gunning his HD up and down the road in front of our house. Don't bother me any just makes me itch to get mine out of the garage.
Keep the stories and posts coming.

Who gives a rats patootie if you have 2 wheels or 4. We are family here.
Last winter we got snow in Nov and it stayed until March. Depended on my neighbor who always brought his truck by and dropped the blade & I always gave him a big bottle of Patron. He kinda forgot and I didn't want to ask with hat in hand. So my "snowblower" is the wife who likes exercise - but the drive is 200ft. I'm not into inviting a heart attack and she's my young tootsie. We don't have to leave much as we both work from here. But UPS & Fedex have to get in & out. That's OK they are young bucks they walk from the road, get exercise. We got PMS bad as the bikes were parked for over 4 months.
So before the snow this year got the drive raised with black recycled asphalt and a Kubota and plow blades. That's what is keeping the snow away - I'm ready for it. Had to move the snow once - it was about 6" and was really just to verify the Kubota will move snow.
Yesterday got George and the Magna out for a nice ride to Palmer Lake. Have done the same monthly before. No snow problems now. COME ON GOTF! I have to set up the popup & make sure it's not mildewy. Jade is ready!

Wayne-the FACT you still consider me/us Friends tells me a LOT. Cuz I will ALWAYS consider you a Friend and who Zackly cares How MANY wheels are involved! I'm still evaluating my options about riding. And should worse come to worse-sellin the Valkyrie-I fer one intend on stickin around. We may be dysfunctional we may argue mongst ourselves we may have differing points of view but the One Thing I KNOW is-we ARE FAMILY. Just thinkn bout ALL these folks I may not would NOT have met were It Not for the Valkyrie! RIDE SAFE.
