Anyone know of a good used one, preferably not priced to break the bank. I know we can go through Medicare and my supplemental insurance and get it free or almost so but don't want the wait if possible....takes paperwork and dr. orders, etc.  Rita can't use one that has the tiller or handlebars in front, has to be a joystick operation and I already told her I'm mounting a Stebel air horn on it like I have on the Valk. That didn't get real good reception!  ;)  I'll also need a carrier to mount in the trailer hitch, I guess one problem at a time for now.

Although quite weak and rather wobbly on her feet, as of now she walks fairly good but not without assistance....needs someone with her to prevent falling. I plan to get one of those gait belts to use when she's walking, it's a wide webbed thing that wraps around the waist and the assistant can hang onto it for stabilizing her. As it is now, I just grab her waistband on her jeans, tell her if she stumbles she gets a free super wedgie. Remember folks....when you said those vows it was "in sickness and in health."  She covered for me in recent years, now it's my turn to take care of her.  :cooldude:

Might check some estate sales, I picked up an almost new 3 wheeler electric chair and the lift to go on the back of the car for $200. The lift retailed for $1499 and the chair listed for over $800.  Both work excellent. Anna has bouts with gout and cannot walk when she gets them. Chair worked out great for her.

Life is like a hot bath. It feels good while you're in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get.

I will ask some of my parents friends. I believe there might be one I remember offered to Sherry for her mom but she got the free one.  Just not sure if it is the correct type.  I fear not.

For the immediate need, can these be rented?

Pappy!

Craigslist under the general sales tab?

Most likely, I just started looking and haven't covered all the bases just yet.  I'm trying to get her home and out of that facility in the next 7-10 days, it's depressing to walk those halls and see some of the other residents.

Rita had a run-in with one nurse twice in the last 10 days so last week I had enough and went to her supervisor and unloaded. After telling him of the nurse's actions and abuse, I simply told him if she ever darkened my wife's door again that he'd be working for me within six months. He got the message and so did that nurse....who really got PO'd that anyone would ever question her and her actions.  So just to see what her reaction would be, I offered to meet with her and have my wife present. She declined and no longer works there. Good riddance!

John,  I rent scooters from Scootaround for the Turkey Run Car show at Daytona, and have for years. I know that they have the type of wheelchair that you are looking for. 888-441-7575  Hope this helps in the short run. You may be able to rent temporarily and buy from them when the paperwork goes through.

Don't know if this helps but here is a joystick model Jazzy Select Elite for $450
Wishing you and your wife the best.
