Me and my Valk at Freedom Rock

« on: February 13, 2017, 02:11:23 PM »

Well, for about a year now, wife and I been planning a trip out to San Diego.
The plan was to leave Sat. on the 11th for a couple days in Denver with the son and DiL, then tomorrow head out to San Diego and hang out at the beach till Sat.

So, you may ask, why are you still at home? The answer is this is my vacation and they are always "special".

Well, last Tuesday, I get home from work. I had been feeling a bit weird all day and felt I may have pulled a groin muscle. Later that evening I get 3 hours of uncontrolled shivers. Temp spike to 103 and the games begin.

Wed. I try to sweat it out. Massive headaches and my leg continues to get worse.

Thursday finally cave and go to doctor. Got raging case of strep throat. Get miracle shot. Not miraculous.

Friday the leg looks like a baseball team took batting practice on the right calf. Go back to doctor.
I have strep throat in my leg. Shocked  Well, the infection took to the lymph nodes in the right leg and messed up the circulatory in the right leg.

Achieved and surpassed the definition of pain.

Finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Leg is going to be a long term project. Swollen and bruise and already had prior issues.

Had to cancel the whole trip. Hotels, tour pkgs, car rentals, air fares. That took a while. Real complicated trip.

Not sure I should take vacations anymore.  Angry

that sucks about the bad timing on getting sick when you should be gone enjoying a vacation.

I know how that feels.   A few times, not me, but other family members, get sick the night before when I spend 5-10 hours getting stuff ready days ahead of time all set to go and they say NO,  am sick cannot go.  It sucks for sure.    Cry

do not worry, I am the same way.  I will go to the dr. ONLY if I am near my death bed.  The few times I have gone in to get REASONING/RESULTS based on what drs. supposedly call scientific tests done all they do is come back negative EVERY single time with NO explanation on why my issues arise and happen.  One simple test was 15 minutes putting pins with electrodes in my arm/hand jolting shock registering on laptop costing me out of pocket the full 500 bucks since deductible is 1500.  Next time I will just say piss on it not blowing one weeks pay for NO real informative information EVER.  What kind of simple test like that costs 500 bucks in 15 minutes tops timeframe - no wonder no one can afford health insurance premiums anymore??   tickedoff

that being said, my wussy neighbor who has ZERO deductible for their health insurance pretty much everything covered goes into the ER on a whim to get anything he wants done free of charge for the most part.  And yet one wonders why premiums are thru the roof with people like that who abuse the system going dozens of times to the dr. for all kinds of tests not needed?   tickedoff

My older brother is worse than me.  I think he has seen the dr. only 1-2 times the past 30+ years as an adult vs. me about once every 4-5 years on average.   I also love how the office visits double bill you when the same ONE office visit is billed once for the internal medicine assistant and then when the real dr. comes in they bill you again for their time even though in same office visit timeframe making ONE appt. NOT 2.  What a joke this entire health insurance system is, total scam and money maker.  uglystupid2    Also is a rip off when you want to see a specialist like an ear dr. since say you know you have an ear infection but they REQUIRE you to see the primary dr. first to verify an ear infection, then refer you to the ear dr., thus getting billed 2x's for 2 office visits even though you know you just need the ear dr. ONLY ONCE.  I have fought a few of those the past 15+ years and a few I refused to pay based on principle alone do not really care if it affects my credit history or not. crazy2
