Hard to believe so much has happened in less than a month.

If I were President Trump, I might not accept that resignation.    But, the other side of the coin is that if not accepted, then we'd have to listen to a hell of a lot more whining from the left.   General Flynn is a huge asset.   It's not like he got an ambassador and other's killed ya know...

Quote
Michael T. Flynn, the national security adviser, resigned on Monday night after it was revealed that he had misled Vice President Mike Pence and other top White House officials about his conversations with the Russian ambassador to the United States.

Mr. Flynn, who served in the job for less than a month, said he had given “incomplete information” regarding a telephone call he had with the ambassador in late December about American sanctions against Russia, weeks before Mr. Trump’s inauguration. Mr. Flynn previously had denied that he had any substantive conversations with Ambassador Sergey I. Kislyak, and Mr. Pence repeated that claim in television interviews as recently as this month.

But on Monday, a former administration official said the Justice Department warned the White House last month that Mr. Flynn had not been fully forthright about his conversations with the ambassador. As a result, the Justice Department feared that Mr. Flynn could be vulnerable to blackmail by Moscow.
In his resignation letter, which the White House emailed to reporters, Mr. Flynn said he had held numerous calls with foreign officials during the transition. “Unfortunately, because of the fast pace of events, I inadvertently briefed the vice president-elect and others with incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian ambassador,” he wrote. “I have sincerely apologized to the president and the vice president, and they have accepted my apology.”

The way I see it the leftists are demanding a blood sacrifice; so far they've not been able to get one from his cabinet appointments so they started rooting around for any insignificant technicality they could nail anyone in Trump's orbit on, they found one, and went all in to crucify the man.

The question is will his sacrifice sate their blood lust, or simply feed it. I fear it's the latter, but time will tell.

The "leftists" have no power over him. This is all Trump's and Flynn's doing.

Trump's? Seriously?

I do wish very sincerely that you and Therapist would give it a rest.  Banging on the same drum over and over does no one any good including the bangers.  If things are headed where you (plural) think they're headed everyone will know soon enough.  Repeatedly posting every possible event with a left twist doesn't make you seem any more aware than you (plural) were on 05 November 2016 but it does continually damage the community to which you claim to be a part.

Before you make the accusation I will tell you straight forward I was previously annoyed by the several posters who banged over and over on the Obama drum with right twisted reports.

I honestly don't want to lose more friends over stupid political bias.

I'm glad Flynn resigned. Shows Honor. Shows the Country being put first instead of party or administration.

That said, I have seen no clear or clean presentation of facts as to what this is supposed to be about.
We've seen lots of reports from unnamed sources providing innuendo and stories of Russian bogey men and something about a discussion of sanctions.

I haven't seen anything substantive or backed by named sources or documents that would warrant a resignation.

The Trump administration did accept it though. Does the acceptance suggest impropriety on Flynn's part?
Perhaps, perhaps not. But even if it does, it shows a greater willingness on the part of not only the Trump administration, but Flynn himself to put the Country first over their personal political needs and desires.

Pretty much how the adults do it.

If responding to Serk's assertion that it was the lefts fault for this happening is going to cause us to not be friends then I am very sorry for that. I have not started a political discussion in months. But I do believe a one sentence response to Serk is appropriate . Trump ? Yes, I believe he hired the guy. And I don't believe I made any assertions of where I think this is going. I have no freaking idea !

Badger ? From my understanding he lied to Pence, he lied to Priebus. That is apparently why he is out. How does that have anything to do with the press ?

Boogie Man is a disco dancer. I am not aware of Flynn speaking to any Russian disco dancers. Although perhaps this was the reason for his resignation. He was passing classified dance moves to Russian Boogie men.

I heard Cummings doing his usual indignant blowing & blubbering today re. Flynn, showing intense displeasure with what had supposedly happened and all the "secret" stuff that was discussed by Flynn. My question is quite simple...where were all those Democrat blowhards when Hillary was found to have transmitted classified material on a non secure server(and lied to Congress about it) which was located in a closet somewhere in a mom and pop shop. Sounds a bit hypocritical to me.

A Tourist walked into a Chinese curio shop in San Francisco. While looking
around at the exotic merchandise, he noticed a very lifelike, life-sized,
bronze statue of a rat. It had no price tag, but was so incredibly striking
the tourist decided he must have it. He took it to the old shop owner and
asked, "How much for the bronze rat?"
"Ahhh, you have chosen wisely! It is $12 for the rat and $100 for the
story," said the wise old Chinaman.
The tourist quickly pulled out twelve dollars. "I'll just take the rat, you
can keep the story".
As he walked down the street carrying his bronze rat, the tourist noticed
that a few real rats had crawled out of the alleys and sewers and had begun
following him down the street. This was a bit disconcerting so he began
walking faster.
A couple blocks later he looked behind him and saw to his horror the herd of
rats behind him had grown to hundreds, and they began squealing.
Sweating now, the tourist began to trot toward San Francisco Bay.
Again, after a couple blocks, he looked around only to discover that the
rats now numbered in the MILLIONS, and were squealing and coming toward him
faster and faster.
Terrified, he ran to the edge of the Bay and threw the bronze rat as far as
he could into the Bay.
Amazingly, the millions of rats all jumped into the Bay after the bronze rat
and were all drowned.
The man walked back to the curio shop in Chinatown.
"Ahhh," said the owner, "You come back for story?"
"No sir," said the man, "I came back to see if you have a bronze Democrat".
I bet you didn't see that one coming.

I found this from Judge Napolitano very interesting and if true would mean Trump had good reason to suspect and admonish the intelligence community. He also said this has never been done before and is very serious and dangerous in nature. I

Judge Nap: Leaks Mean Trump Must Fear His Own Intel Community

http://insider.foxnews.com/2017/02/15/judge-napolitano-flynn-russia-leaks-donald-trump-must-fear-intelligence-community

Judge Andrew Napolitano said on "Your World" today that President Trump must be concerned with the intelligence leaks that precipitated the resignation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

Flynn stepped down after misleading Vice President Mike Pence about conversations he had with the Russian ambassador before the inauguration.

Napolitano said that since Flynn's last military role was the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, he would know that his conversations with Russian envoy Sergey Kislyak were being recorded.

He thought he was being recorded by "American patriots, [not] American scoundrels," Napolitano said.

For sure, the issue here is not Gen Flynn and the obstructionists actually getting a win (hooray for Saul Alinsky assholes everywhere), the issue is leaks right out of our own intell community..... almost certainly NSA.

When did the concept of duty become... duty to politics/party over duty to country?

The judge is correct.  Today in a press conference with Netenyahu, Trump  blasted the intelligence agency for their despicable acts.  What needs to happen is for Jeff Sessions is to convene a grand jury and bring these people up. Giving testimony under oath with consequences being charges based on the espionage act could root out the culprits.   They are most likely senior operatives and may have been given marching orders by the past administration.  If you know what happened to Flynn during the O administration then you can draw the lines and connect the dots and begin to understand what really happened here.

You know my friend, you and I have had the most disagreeable conversations of just about anybody on here. And I regret my part in that. But I have a sneaking suspicion you and I could ride all day long, have a few brews at the end of the day, and actually get along and agree on many things in this world. There are less than a handful here who I think that's not possible with.  Smiley

Alpha, as a former federal prosecutor, I feel the same way.  Been giving this some thought too.

You don't get senior in (or even hired) by NSA for being a dummy.  There are likely quite a few people over there with access to WH/DOD/State communications.  Whoever is doing this must be feeling pretty bulletproof, or they would not have even thought about leaking.  I really doubt any marching orders from the Zero or his people, more like a career committed lefty (or several).

In any event, if I was in the WH, I'd be thinking very hard about how to change up my comms to leave NSA out of the circuit, and I'll bet that is no mean feat.

This is a very very rotten deal.

Agree with Alpha today.

Under the new left and the new media standard (holy irony of ironies) it seems to be a crime against humanity to have discussions with "the other side" or Russia in particular.

Isn't that very discussion a prime function of diplomacy, meaning, our state department. Dont forget for a moment our State Dept  functions as cover as it does with all countries and you cant have an intelligence community without the ability to feed false and misleading intel to root out moles and spies.   Could you imagine a russian paper suggesting end of KGB back in the day?  Rocketray without a cia or its predecessor OSS (no relation to me) we would be speaking German today.  If you believe we need to trash it what would you replace it with?

Unauthorized  leaking of intel including private conversations is serious crap and these moles need to understand consequences.  Also the White House needs to get people on board who understand cybersecurity better than the last administration.  By the way, the media still hasnt found out where the 30000 emails went

Dangit, been trying to be a good boy and just stay out of this one but I keep getting pulled in.

No, just because one side does it doesn't make it okay for the other side, but...

Smiley

Am i in that "less than a handfull" group?

I'm definitely in that "less than a handful" group... I can't drink beer. Wink
