http://forgotten-ny.com/2014/02/the-names-of-the-neighborhoods-of-the-bronx/

The Irish neighborhood of Woodlawn has more Irish that some counties in Ireland and many restaurants and pubs.  On Nereid Ave (which becomes McLean Ave in Yonkers just six blocks from my office) there are dozens of them, at least 2 or 3 on every block.  If you like corned beef and cabbage on Thursday (its the day Irish pubs make it and have no idea why) you cant go wrong at Rambling House or Rory Dolan's

My office is on White Plains Rd about 200 feet north of Nereid Ave
I would describe it as the junction of Wakefield- Woodlawn- Baychester and a few blocks from both Mt Vernon and Yonkers NY

As a kid I thought George Washington was from Mt Vernon NY until I found out he was from Virginia.  What a dissapointment lol

cooldude I'm not a fan of lamb. But when we were in Ireland a couple years back I had decided I was going for full immersion. Had some Irish Stew in Dublin's oldest pub. IT WAS AWESOME ! Now the Blood Sausage and Offal Sausage for breakfast was a different story.

I have had lamb once and will not again, did not like the taste nor smell.

Corned beef is good though just wish I had it more often than say once per year.

My taste buds are pretty BLAH and fussy unfortunately.

Not far and every time I took 95 into Manhattan I remembered this and Woodlawn, NY history is both turbulent and diverse especially when immigrants arrived here. I used to love going into China town or little Italy and eating there. NY without a doubt has some of the best restaurants in the US. SOHO and downtown on Sunday mornings was just peaceful and quiet. I think they should have kept NY as the place of government instead of Washington.

Oss I know you go to the court house in NY whats it like riding a Motorcycle in the city? One of my things to do is ride in NY down 5th ave on the bike or just explore a bit. I would do it on a Sunday being it would be a bit slower and less congested, then take the bike and head up  to New England.

Robert its not like the old daze

The Grand Concourse speed limit is 25 since that moron DeBlasio became mayor and there are 4 radar cameras between Mosholu Parkway and the Housing Court plus a cop hiding where you go under Fordham Road   Once they move the clock again I will be commuting on the police bike again and parking right in front of the Courthouse  cooldude

Funny what scares some doesnt faze others, truck traffic etc lane changers dont bother me on any roads or highways but put me on a downhill twisty I dont know after a rain and see how slow I go   Wink

Just let me know in advance when you want to come up as I may not always be around.  Figure we need 4 days at least to give you the full measure of riding the area after so many years you have been away

You know Florida is good but there are things I really miss about NY. I know everyone is partial to their state but NY has so much to do and see. From Upstate NY to Long Island to Manhattan, I guess I'm still at heart a New Yorker. I used to love Lake George especially when the boat show was on.

so think about coming up for americade

I can stay over at Lake George 1 night and ride the demo bikes but cant take 2 days off work with the wedding coming up for Alana   I am not going to Inzane either

Maybe ride there on 87 early (like 6am) Friday, do the Saranac,Tupper, Long Lake and Placid loop then stay over ride the demo bikes then return sat afternoon

Fast way up is 3.5 hrs hauling ass and having fun on 87   If I take 22  back it will be 5 hrs but nicer ride and we can stop at BigW BBQ in Wingdale

Sounds like  a  plan   if anyone else interested ?
