Our northern border is pretty secure but that southern one is a concern. There's a lot of bad hombres in the US.

I live near Lake St Clair in Mich. I can walk to Canada, there are a few spots that are a hop, skip and jump! When there is ice on the lake, a short walk. Probably should put a wall north of us.

So your dog can crap on your northern neighbours lawn but your neighbour to the south (or north) better not do the same to your lawn.  ???

Not trying to start anything, just pointing out a bit of a double standard and attempting to understand your reasoning. And no, I'm not calling these people dog crap, it's just an analogy... Grin

I wonder what it would feel like to flee a civil war in your country to the shining beacon of freedom America. Only to find you are not welcome. We are very lucky to be born here and we take much for granted .

Yeah my question wasn't about whether to let in refugees into either country. (These people aren't refugees, they were let into the US). I was just wondering why it's ok for people to leave north illegally but they better not come the other way or come from the south.

I'm all for secure borders and so are you guys. Just why the double standard?

Not really a double standard, just relishing in the fact that they aren`t "Our" problem any more.

Kinda like that sigh of relief that you feel when someone else gets pulled over for speeding instead of you.

IF they were in fact here ILLEGALLY that may be the WHY of them leaving. IF they were here legally MAYBE they ain't a fan of Our Current POTUS. And as previously stated your P M seems more amicable to their plight than Our POTUS do. They way I'm reading It President Trump wants a Much Better vetting process than has been the case. So the ones that may KNOW they won't vet out properly SEE the hand writin on da wall and are leaving with Your P Ms blessing and open arms. I PRAY it do NOT rare up and bite him in his keester. RIDE SAFE.

Wrong question IMHO

The Saudi's said they will step up

So do it

Lets see some secure and safe refugee camps in Saudi Arabia and when the fighting is over all the refugees can go home to an ISIS free country

There is no reason for USA to have to take in people who are in no danger of being exterminated where they are now (not in a war zone) and if they are in a war zone we can set up safe places not here not yet

Canada be careful.................be very careful

Justin(Justine) and his(her?) merry band of Liberal feminist social justice turds can have all the migrants they want as long as they keep them all in Ottawa within minutes of Justin's residence. If something tragic happens to him...well maybe that would be the textbook definition of Karma.
Here in Mid Western Canada there is no love for the Liberals.

Yes there are.  Ask the Cruz family of Colorado where their family member was killed in a train station by illegal immigrants, or the Steinle family who lost their daughter after their killers were released from jail without notifying ICE, even though they were requested to do so over and over again.

You guys really turn my stomach.  People are being murdered, killed by drunk drivers, etc. by people in this country illegally and you use sarcasm to make light of it. Good thing Mr. Cruz wasn't your son, or Ms. Steinle your daughter, right? Oh, but even if he was, you'd all still have so much compassion for the murderer, right?  You'd want him to stay, received public assistance, and remain on the streets because after all, they're only here to better themselves, right?

"Mexico is not sending you!  They're sending their murderers and rapists"  They've been doing this forever, just like Cuba and other central American countries have been doing.  Why should they have to pay for imprisoning their criminals when they can ship them to the USA where we have tons of money to take care of them?  So, Americans, the one's whose tax dollars are paying for these people, have become their victims.  But hey, as long as it doesn't happen to you and yours, right???

So I merely point out that some people seem to want the US borders secure from people just walking across them, but it's ok for people to walk across ours and THAT is what you got from that.

Let me rephrase for you. If you were a Canadian, and you had people illegally walking across your border, what would you think?  Careful how you answer, as the answer should apply to your southern border as well.

If I were a Canadian I would want illegal invaders stopped by any means necessary.

As an American however, I'm much more worried about stopping the illegal invasion coming IN then I am about the illegal invaders trying to get OUT.

I wouldn't fault the Canadians at ALL for doing whatever is necessary to stop the invasion, but it's kind of hard to feel TOO badly for ya'll when your PM is openly telling the invading army to come on in, you're welcome here.

G-Man and Serk you are correct. Too bad some Liberals can't see the forest for the trees.

It just baffles me about all of the arguing about illegal and dangerous intruders to our country. I can't imagine anyone would be OK with bad guy illegal aliens living next to you.

I would say that if someone was crossing my border illegally, they should be immediately sent back.  If someone entered my country illegally and committed a crime, they should be locked up, and after time served, deported.

I feel this way, exactly, about the U.S. southern border and northern border.  Someone walk across the ice and sets up camp here illegal like, and gets caught, they should be skated on back across the ice.  But if they commit a crime here, they have to do the time, then they get whisked off across the ice.

So we agree with each other then. I figured we did.  cooldude

We have great countries and it is a privilege to be welcomed into either. We both have a history of doing just that. Having open borders that people can walk across illegally can lead to all kinds if issues(see a good portion of Europe). It doesn't mean we can't welcome some legally, just means we have to be careful about who we bring over.

I completely agree Gary with a proviso.  If the crime is one or two misdemeanors or some small time class 6 felony (with no victim), just go straight to the deportation.  If it's serious, lock them up (and make an example of them).  So many courts give no meaningful sentence on small stuff anyway.... anymore.

I'd rather they were gone 60-180 days ago, than given three hots and a cot for 60-180 days first (on our dime).  Indeed, some could see a short stretch as a way to survive with good food and out of the weather, and actually intentionally commit and get caught for small time crap.  So that should not be an option for them.

Lots of localities and cities keep short timers in the local lockups (not sent to state prisons), with limited space.  We need that space for our own homegrown hoodlums.
