Black pipes or leave chrome

My next project on the bike for, possibly, next winter is whether, or not, to get the pipes redone in black. 

I am not sure if powder coating will hold up to the heat, so I am also investigating other stuff that will.

I mocked up my exhaust with black hockey tape to give you a visual.  The colour I am going for is more like the frame colour. 

I ask, because I am on the fence about this.

What is your opinion?

Use black exhaust tape that way it has the textured appearance that some choppers do.

Personally, I'd leave it chrome, but you've blacked the other accent areas so doing the pipes mages sense for your bike.

My wife also gave the mock up a thumbs up.  She is a visual person and couldn't see it in her mind.  She was against the black pipes until I showed her them with the hockey tape on them.  I spent enough this winter on the bike, so it will have to wait until next winter.

I like the chrome better because when the bike is all black, I'm sure people here could think my bike is HD 
The EOM chromed pipes are fine, easy to clean, eye catching, they draw a fine line stretching the length of the bike. I'm afraid that black coated pipes would make the bike anonymous or worse, rat style

Take a look at the F6B variants.  Many have black exhaust systems and, if I remember correctly, the mufflers are longer.  They look great on the 2015 matte gray unit.

But I have to agree with Ledany that the look could begin to go "rat bike" on a F6C.

I've been kicked off the fence onto the dark side.
I contacted the guy who does my powder coating and he can do a ceramic coating in a flat black, or a dark flat grey. I think I'll go with the dark flat grey, but I'll have to see it first. I don't have plans to get it done though until next winter. I spent too much on my bike this year as it is.

Take a look at my older muffler threads Brian. The stainless steel is super thick and the cheome shrouds are on top of it. Heat isn't going to be a big problem with that much metal. The inner chambers are quite robust, too. I've been designing an extension setup that uses truck stacks for covers with no fear of heat problems.

I suppose I could shoot the Chrome outer with the infrared temp gun.  Powder coating bakes around 425° ???  But there isn't much difference in price ceramic vs power?

Apples vs oranges at this point. Ceramic would be your best bet if you don't mind the matt/denim black look. Tougher and more resistant to debris from the road. Powder coating is better for gloss or different shades of black with metal flake.

Leave the chrome. Looks better I think,plus it's free and easy.
It's the only bling that stands out on the bike already.

                           I think the black looks great, but I would have the powder coated, that way the finish will last.
