Dan, I fixed the speeling for you  Smiley  You're right, it's a beautiful place to ride.  Last year, during Americade, we rented a cabin on Long Lake about 35 miles northwest of Lake George almost dead center of NY upstate.  Absolutely beautiful countryside, nice wide open roads W/O traffic.  Gets cool at night though.  So heated gear is good.  Did day trips to Americade, Lake Erie, Lake Placid, St Lawrence Seaway and Cooperstown.  Americade is cool, but too many people for me, it was good as a day trip.

I go up on Tuesday when they open, and camp out til Thursday. The best part is that on Tuesday and Wednesday hardly anyone is there, so you can get some good campsites, and the bike demo area is empty. You can literally ride any and all bikes....with no crowds. If anyone else is interested in motorcycle camping, I can try and retrieve where I stay up near Bolton Landing.
