You know, even if your vest (or foam) stops the bullet, it's not like a mosquito bite.

That sh!t hurts like hell and can stop your heart.

I scanned an article about it, there was a part about it absorbing the
kinetic energy of the hit... Ida know...

True, but it will hurt a lot less than the hole and exit wound.

Hope it works.

not if what they say is true absorbing most of the impact and pulverizing the bullet into dust basically.  Never been hit with a slug with a bullet proof vest but this new vest material seems like a HUGE improvement on not breaking ribs or doing internal damage or  knocking you on your keester when hit.

It doesn't look like it would hurt much. I'd like to see results from a 44 mag or 460 or 500. Even a shotgun slug.

Looks like it would hurt to me. But it's a lot better than being dead.

If it really disburses/negates impact injury, I wonder if they could make bike gear out of it?

Looks like a big hoax to me really. Not many materials will stop an armor piercing bullet. Espically nothing that is 8mm thick. I'm calling BS on this. I'd like to see it stop a .338 lapua.

Why, planning on being shot by a bullet while riding anytime soon??   Roll Eyes

No, and I'm not planning on falling off my bike at 55-70 mph either, but it happens.   Roll Eyes

I know metals and ballistics.  This is a metal cast with holes in it.  They call it foam to distract us from the fact that it still weighs more than concrete. Put some baking soda into the molten steel as it is going thru the caster and see the bubbles. They had to make up some kind of use for the new material.  The bullet in the video looks like a frangible  that is designed not to penetrate. Some one will buy in to the misinformation and the developers may even get a contract for mil spec armor.  Could be used for class 4 plate but not overall body armor. An M2 AP round may go thru this like swiss cheese.

Here is another story using  similar mis information . They never actually define what they  are claiming.  Any engineer knows a truss is more efficient than a beam. This does not mean that a matrix structure can transfer more load.  Kevlar and titanium are stronger than steel because they weight less but not because they can carry more load. Super alloy steels rule the true strength test.

Some one mentioned the frangible round. Can NOT recollect the when or where but I seem to remember- 2funny- a video about the frangible and this looks-well-very similar. I'd be willing to fire a round or two outa my 40 to actually see how Well this stuff works. IF this stuff actually works OR exists I Know further testing is mandated. At this point though just a tad mite skeptical!  Lips Sealed RIDE SAFE.
