Do Your Best and Miss the Rest!

As my HJC helmet was approaching 7 yrs old and showing it's wear, I decided to break down and get a new bucket.

Found a Schuberth C3 Pro on closeout for 300 off. So naturally, I had to order a Sena 20S with the extra money I saved. I think that's a strategy women use...I HAD to get it. It was on Sale!

Anyway, I lucked out on size and it felt good for the hour I wore it around the house. It was the last one left that RevZilla had in the XLarge size.

Gonna start pairing up the Sena with a few devices and try to get proficient by the time I leave for IZ.

Fellow VRCC member Mike Hunter Mallett steered me toward the Schuberth. He said if I get one, it'll be the best helmet I can buy. It's a modular but is only supposed to be a relatively quiet 82 decibels at 60mph. It's also pretty light at 3.5lbs.

Nice,  so if I may ask,  what did that C3 helmet end up costing you about roughly?

I keep my helmets longer than 7 years if not all beat up, but been thinking of another modular helmet as well.  Mine is fine, but is tad bit discomforting on my big forehead for over 1+ hour drives at times.

Just be careful walking around your house with that helmet on, you may BONK your head on the doorway or light fixtures, do NOT ask me how I know.  Actually I have konked my helmet dozens of times  wearing it in my garage since I have 2 kayaks hanging from rafters with barn ropes between my 2 vehicles only 6 feet tall.  BONK!!!!  It whips my head around if I walk briskly damn near knocking me down with helmet on, really ticks me off when I keep doing that.    uglystupid2

Lol, I could picture that happening but I was pretty careful and stayed between the kitchen and living room. If the neighbors saw me through the window, they probably wondered what the hell I was making for supper that required protection to that degree!

Mike, I got it for 499. I don't think RevZilla has any left of any size at that price but I think they can still be found on Ebay(new) for a similar price.

Very nice. I'm not sure what my next helmet will be, but that one sounds good. I've been partial to Arai's for sentimental reasons. They saved me twice. Looking forward to your report on the helmet. I know you will like the 20S. Mucho features on that baby.  cooldude

Rob, I've only had 2 HJCs so far so getting this C3 Pro is like going from a Yugo to a Ferrari---well, you get the pic.

Yeah, the 20S will universally pair with just about any other brand, so it says. I'll definitely like that feature as I ride out to and around Billings.

It does. But you still have to go thru the pairing sequence. Being able to pair with your phone and gps is pretty cool. My wife likes that. I mostly just like being able to communicate with my riding buddy about stops, obstacles, etc.

Good purchase! I have to ask: did anyone see you wearing it around the house? Wink

Yeah....been there, done that.. At 6'6', I darn near hit the doorways without a helmet. Was trying my brand new helmet last year and put a nice scratch on the top within the first 15 min. as I bonked it on the pocket door frame. DOH!!

That's my dream helmet (?)....I have an old Schuberth now, and it's nearing it's use-by date..It's probably 15 yrs old, i bought it from a friend.

Unfortunately, I have a list of wants, that range from the $100's to the $900's, most of which I'd like to have before June....

That's pretty good service, Baldo. One year ago, I had never heard of Schuberth. Evidently, they weren't a closely guarded secret with you.  Grin I know what you mean about wants and wishes. I'm down to only needing a new front tire before IZ-and maybe another travel bag.

Oh man.....sorry for getting your hopes up, Dan, but I've already got a date. The guy I ride with mostly is going to make the trip. Buuuuut, he rides a Beemer....it sounds like a loud sewing machine.....

No problem, yes BMWs sound like sewing machines. Most accomplished riders I've ever met
