Here's something on the lighter side of life, future WWE wrestlers in the making.

that is funny, funnier than watching the WWE wrestlers they have now.  I hate to admit it, but I do not mind watching WWE wrestling if nothing else on TV that is.  But,  definitely not into it like I was in the 80s and 90s since the wrestlers now do not really stand out like they use to back in the day.  Plus, they got banned from doing all those bras and panties wrestling matches or even the jello/mud wrestling episodes.  Stacy Kebler and Sable, both hot as F,  are worth watching time and time again.  Stone Cold Steve Austin coming out with a beer truck (or was it a milk truck) was priceless and the ROCK was very comical as well.  Even John Cena back when he was a rapper was funny vs. his B.S. all high and mighty now.   The deaths are tragic though like Eddie Guerrero, Brian Pillman, Chris Benoit, and the list goes on and on either drugs/steroids or mental issues.

My older brother actually got to meet in his restaurant he managed in the 90s wrestlers Ric Flair and Paul Orndoff and a few other big name wrestlers.  He said they were pretty stuck up on themselves though and wanted my brother who managed the place to do special orders, etc. for them in the buffet lunch as well as keep the folks from bothering them being sort of hard to do at that time.

I grew up in Madison Heights MI in the 70's and 80's and my high gym teacher was none other than George "The Animal" Steele. The fact that he was a wrestler in the 60's was not real well known but was sort of a non--secret, but when pro wrestling got a resurgence in the mid 80's he was right in the middle of it with Cyndi Lauper and Capt Lou Albano...was pretty cool to be able to say I knew him.
I was very sad to hear of his passing...

I think the Oscars should have a "pro wrestling" category.
I mean some of the acting there is as good as the movies, don'tcha think?

I'm not real old and might have some of the names spelled wrongly, but I do remember as a little tyke watching Mad Dog Vachon, Vern Gagne, Dick the Bruiser, Moose Cholack, Baron Von Raschke, etc but I do remember also watching George "The Animal". Wasn't he the guy who used to eat the turnbuckle cushions? That was good entertainment right there!

yep, remember him in the 70s and 80s going to boylan catholic high school in Rockford IL area when he wrestled for the AWA before the WWF came about.  We use to go every few years there to see AWA wrestling when I was a kid, fond memories.  I think he always was licking/eating/ripping apart the turnbuckles or something like that, weird character for sure.   Small world isn't it?

my favorite though growing up was The Crusher from Milwaukee WI (or so they said) who use to drink a beer coming into the ring and deliver the bomo knockout punch.  Yah, I needed a life growing up, still do.... Roll Eyes

Yup, that was him. There's a video somewhere from a few years ago when he threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a ball game. Before he threw the ball he took a bite out of it. Funny as hell.

And then this gem a couple of years later:

Always the showman. I saw him live several times growing up, and he played that character so perfectly you'd swear he was legit demented.

On a flight to England years ago and some of them were flying Business or First. Hulk and the Japanese guy I remember.

Anyway they were behaving like jerks walking up and down the aisles making noise.

The stewardesses eventually had to tell them to go sit the F down.

Good ole Tennessee 'rassler "performed" under the name Willie B. Hert.
Remember him?
Doctor told him he was impotent, so he dressed like he was impotent.

never heard of willie hert, but lost recently also another great one Jimmy super fly Snooka well before he should have passed on.  I am guessing his repeated head butts off the top ropes am sure caused some concussions over the years destroying some brain cells.

That's Willie B Hert, real name Pez Whatley.
Also went by Shasta Whatley. Played football at UT Chattanooga. Died in '05 at only 54 yrs. old. Wrestled in the 80's - 90's heyday.
