I just signed up for a track day at the Circuit Of The America's in Austin ,Tx--the Formula 1 Circuit-next weekend-Since everyone grinds the engine guards off on the Uber bike ..my wife's replica racer Suzuki GSX-650F will be called to duty..I really hate showing up on the grid for events like this in my Corvette as I get really nauseated and wonder why I am doing it...but as I have never dragged a knee.... :-X :'( :-\ :-[ :o

That's gonna be an epic day out! Great track, been to a couple of F-1 races there. Can't get over how steep the hill from the start line to turn 1 is!
Hope you enjoy!

I'm thinking of riding there next month for the Moto GP.  Has anyone done that?

I'm riding down from MN...should be interesting.
Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous.
It is however, extremely unforgiving of: inattention, ignorance, incompetence or stupidity.

I followed some of the lectures to you tube and they are very informative :cooldude:

well the "Ride Smart C.O.T.A." weekend was cold and rainy of Saturday and just cold --in the 40's -today-Sunday-in Austin Tx-some 250-300 riders showed up at the truly spectacular facility-lots of Europeans sorts w/mainly Dainese garb--I was  tired from work and getting the show on the road-Saturday-getting the wife's baby Gixxer and trailer up and going 6 hours south with a huge monsoon and major road construction was some effort--the track was cold and still somewhat moist from the days previous rains today-Sunday-the speed groups had the big guys up and running first and early--it was worth the event to hear the motors--shriek/howl/thunder/feral scream/mechanical cacaphony in top  mixed group-level 3- in the early AM round was beyond any F1 race I have ever heard--the echo on the main grandstands ripping up the very steep climb to the 1st corner gave a huge resonating bowl--beats me what the modern motor lay outs are anymore--anyway-being a less than fit 60 y.o. wedging oneself on top of a modern day sportbike with full leathers and trying to imitate a 120# Valentino Rossi ...on a  semi-moist 45 degree track that is basically 2 of the most  awesome straightaways in the world where big speed is easily attained--I was doing 125-135 on a 650 cc and chickening out early due to the moist/cold conditions but ending in 270 degree corners that lead into 8-12 very technical corners each that was really made for a week of learning-I came to the decision I should have taken the Valkyrie and would have been a LOT more comfortable and with the track conditions I wasn't going to get a lot of lean angle anyway and the crowd would have enjoyed the rip of open Viking header on a Flat 6--as we were leaving 2 guys had had accidents and ambulances had been arrived--I have an extra set of engine guards-maybe I should grind away a set..
