Well if 50 mph winds are not bad enough on I10 a sand and dust storm just is more insult to your ability to control your Valkyrie

Wont see me on I 10 in SE Calif and western Az in the late winter early spring no more for love or money   Been there done that thanks

Consider myself lucky enough to have made it in late March

Wonder if it would be much better going thru Joshua Tree area and finding a road north of 10

I lived out there 11 years Oss.  Hard to escape sand anywhere out there.   Been on Hwy 111 and caught in it in a car also.   Just have to hole up.  I will say it did not happen often.   Going through Joshua Tree is a great experience.  I think about 40 miles, slow speed limit.

Been on 111 with a goldwing during a wind storm riding at a 45 * angle. Don't like riding there in spring time.

from the windmills on I 10 in Calif (dont remember mile marker or nearest town )  until somewhere in Arizona I was doing my best to be just to the left of a small camper.

He knew why I was there (making myself as low as possible) and if it wasnt for the fact I was down to one full bar on the gas gauge I would have stayed next to him till the storm was over (did it ever end?)  Instead there was an exit with a shell station and I rode at a similar angle into it and then on to Surprise Az.

The only good thing is you can see the storm coming  Of course the words hunker down mean $hit as there is nowhere to hunker but make your butt hold onto that seat    2funny

BigBF said that my permenent amsoil air filter was generously covered in sand when he took off the tank the next day. It cleaned up nice and easy and after leaving him my mpg went way up as he did other work as well

Hey Oss.  Do you remember looking out into the desert and seeing all the dust devils?  Of course not sure what time of year you where there.  But during the summer on the way to Blyth just a little wind and with the heat would kick up those dust devils.  Pretty unique to see.
