Do I have to drain the oil when changing the shifter seal?

Pretty easy job Matt, did mine last week.
If you need a hand let me know.

Turns out not what or where,
but who you ride with really matters

Easiest job you can do other than an oil change :cooldude:

I ask the same question before doing mine and as always the guys helped out with great advise. Seems like there was a youtube video showing exactly how or a post with pictures using a screw to remove it, I used a dental pick and it came out easy. Removed the footpeg as suggested and that made it easier to remove shifter. Took me longer to clean area around seal where oil had leaked than to do the whole job but that's because I'm kind of anal and used long Qtips to get every spec. :crazy2:

Yep used a dental pick to remove mine and I didn't remove the foot peg . Took about ten minutes total.
If it is leaking sit probably is NOT seated so it will be easy to remove.
