While shopping for a YUASA YTX14-BS Maintenance Free Battery, i noticed that some do not have the same graphics on the side. They are all YTX14-BS AGM Maintenance Free Batteries but some look different. All the ones I looked at came with the acid pack that you add. Any reason for the difference in what they say on the side?

Speaking of that battery, do they have unlimited shelf life before the acid is added?  I bought one for when I need it, now on the shelf, acid not added.

They are all Yuasa?

I would think different lots and/or from different suppliers/countries.

Personally, after what some have written here, just look for the least expensive proper battery for the bike. I think that is Wally world. Check the warranty they offer, and expect to replace every 3-5 years. Should still be cheaper than the more expensive name brand. I recall something like less than $50 USD ($80 CAD)

Yes I believe they do. They sit in the parts warehouses that way.  They sit in my shed that way.

I suppose a bad sitting environment (for a long enough time) like back and forth from hot and humid and cold and damp could be bad.  My last spare one sat for a couple years, no problem.  But I think I may put a new replacement in the house instead of in the shed (temp controlled).

I'm pretty sure the acid is impervious, I am thinking of the dry cells.

All of the interweb info is about charged batteries.

You don't have to add acid to these and I've had good luck with them....1 year warranty as well with free shipping. Same battery size and post location as the YTX, but the YTZ has all glass mat internals. YTX has plates and glass mat. http://www.batterymart.com/p-YTZ14S-BS-AGM-Maintenance-Free-Battery.html

A tip: if you buy from Amazon and have problem within the 1 year warranty, they will try to push the problem to the manufacturer (Yuasa).

But the manufacturer will claim the responsibility is up to the seller (IIRC, Yuasa has that stated in their website).

The solution: at least in California, it seems that you cannot mail a used battery (because of the metal pollutants). I just said this to Amazon and they offered me to reimburse the cost of a new battery.

The better Yuasa's are made in the USA or Japan. The cheaper ones, China. Mine's 10 yrs. old but I'm thinking of replacement soon for peace of mind. I priced a Interstate locally for $83 as alternative option.

It always amazes me when guys get that much use out of batteries. I'm lucky if I get 5 years.

My last Yuasa was bought in 2012 from amazon for $65 with free shipping and still working well. When I bought this one, I then took the old Yuasa from the bike and installed it in the lawn tractor as the Interstate battery I had in the tractor was a POS. The tractor now needs a new battery so it looks like the Valk will get one too.

excessive long term cold and heat always kills batteries, even though u got a dry heat. :o  big reason electric cars are a bust esp. in freezing climates.
