This one was set up by Redvalk & Sherry in 2006 as the big rally was out in Colorado AND i COULD not make it out west.  It was the days of the old chat room with dozens in the place at a time. Met lots of great folks some of whom are still with us.  This was a few years before that tree fell on his head I think and also before I met G-Man.  It was our first VRCC event.

Bonnie and I took 3 days riding down pulling the bushtec trailer
Stayed in Front Royal then next day rode thru Skyline Drive and had a nice ride to Peaks of Otter around mile 88 on the BRP and stayed the nite   Great restaurant and we walked around the lake and sat out watching the bats flying and eating bugs.  Very peaceful place.

Next day continued south on BRP in occasional heavy fog and rain
She was not a happy camper for sure but never complained once.
We did see some awesome sights such as fog rising very fast and pouring up into the heavens over the road and over the peaks.  Very surreal. Deer crossing occasionally and very light vehicle traffic. We stopped often for pictures and to just take in the scenery

We left the BRP around Roanoke to pick up 81 and made it to Johnson City in time to go swimming in the pool. It was HOT.  Had met Don and Tracy earlier in the summer and met Dana, BlackPearl's captain and his wife at the pool. Dana was doing belly flops and really making some big splashes !

Funny thing I could not close the trunk of the Valk once I got to DOTS and Hard6 and Rusty and Warlock took the whole trunk apart finding the tiny magnet battery from an led kids light inside the latch.  Have no idea how it got in there uglystupid2  When they put the trunk together there were no extra parts. What an experience.
Next day we rode to Wheels Thru Time with some nice folks from the deep south  Rusty & Donna, Warlock & Coolbreeze, Bird and Moonshine and her brother Magoo   Once we got past the fact that they talk funny  Wink  we had a great time.  Bird was a pretty steady rider what with Cindy totally standing and turning around while taking pics.  That would un nerve me no doubt

Anyone have any pics or stories from DOTS?  I know that is where I met many folks.  Detn8er, Strider, Hard 6, maybe Smokinjoe was there too

On the way back we made it to near Allentown  a bit over 500 miles before Bonnie said she needed to stop and sit in a swimming pool   It was pretty damn hot  and I found us a place with a cold pool lol!  Last time she would ride for 8 hrs nonstop  Now I fly her to rides that are more than 500 miles away or we take multiple days to get there

Wish I could find my pics when my old puter crashed I lost most of my old pics.  There is a  lot to be said for printing pics

I remember DOTS that year(2006), it was the year I also attended InZane the first time it was held in Frisco, CO. One highlight I remember about DOTS is I got the "Oldest Rider" award at the tender young age of 68 if I recall. I wish they would have another InZane up there, great riding, great memories.  cooldude

DOTS was a great time. I still have the shirt in the closet as a matter of fact. If I remember correctly it was son Andy's first out of state trip on his Ducati Monster and being younger we both rode straight through from here to the motel parking lot.

We got there around 10 PM and I was damn tired. Tired enough I didn't realize my kickstand hadn't made it to full lock and it folded up when the bikes weight got on it. Now here I am, Andy is still on his bike and my bike is laying in the parking lot looking ugly. My technique when picking up my Valk is to grab the down side handlebar grip with both hands and pick it up. Problem was, I had my tank bag on her and every time I tried to pick her up the tank bag would hold the horn button down, we would degrade into laughter and I'd have to set the bike down. It happened at least three times before I was finally able to let the horn honk while I controlled my laughter and got the Valk back on her stand.

By that time people were walking out to check on the bikes. :-)

...

Not quite accurate, Evan.  Tim and Dave organized DOTS.  Both of them were also at InZane in Frisco that year.

John, InZane was held in Frisco again in 2009.

DOTS was a very good time.   cooldude

Dave Thanks  for the quick post of those pics.

Now I know it was Bryan in the yellow  shirt next to Gary in the pic with the girls (Gary had made custom DOTS denim jackets- I still wear the one he made me - says Ossvalk on the front as that was my handle way back then) and who is next to docmoose behind the bar.

Nice pic of Bonnie and me at the pool party.  Didnt see you take that one Dave

DOTS was the first VRCC event that I ever attended.

You're right Oss it was a bunch of fun!

We attended DOTS and both of the Inzanes in Johnson City, I NEVER get tired of riding in East TN!

I have some PICS on a storage drive somewhere.

When I find them I'll put them on photobucket and post the link here.

GOOD times! Don't forget Wicked Wanda and Bones helped plan that.. Lori had me in the movie " Diary of a Mad Black Woman"  after I won the prize at the tent..  angel

Yep, Doc/Lady Di and Sindee/I still remain close along with Murdoc/Messy, Threevalks/Janellen, Bones/Wicked Wanda, Wegs/Momma T, OP2/Candy, Navy Dad/ Navy Mom, KC Kid, Screwtape/Blinkie, Shaggy, Highbinder/Lady Draco and many friends...  cooldude

Always a pleasure to see GIG, Fudgie, Blackdog, Hardsix, Strider, WQNX Raymond, Willow/Motomama, Normandog, Dave Ritsma (Da Boss) and all of our buddies...

Who could forget Paris chasing everyone's daughter around the parking lot at wee hours of the morning.. Or the famous "I have A Dream" speech by the great Tennessean Smokin Joe!  cooldude

Sadley we lost our great friends RJ, Big Dan, and B.S. Nicely and others but they are not forgotten...

I know that I've truly been blessed with some of the best times in the VRCC over the last 17 years...

Found the PICS for some reason though Photobucket won't let me create an album to put them into.

So, I'm giving Google+PICS a try:
