Evan's DOT post caused me to start looking through old VRCC pictures which caused to me "step out of my comfort zone" somewhat.

My first batch are from the 2005 CBR here in Indiana. There are some pics of members who no longer share this world with us. I had to learn to convert several of them from bitmaps to JPGs and I can only hope everyone can view them correctly. As I said, "I'm outside my comfort zone here". I think that anyone with the URL can add pics to this folder and you are welcome to do so. However, let's keep it "2005 CBR". I'll get more folders of other events up as time allows. If anyone wants to label the pics with names they are welcome to if possible.

These CBRs were indeed some very good times. Many, many thanks to Doc and his Lady for making them happen!

These seem to be the only pics I have from the 2006 CBR. They were taken at the Ropkey Armor Museum and are of my buds Jim and Tim who rode with me that day.

2007 CBR. The CBR that year hosted the only VRCC wedding I can remember.

Looks like this was the year I broke my leg just before the CBR. Some days you'll have that I guess.  Embarrassed

The lady on the back of my bike was just at Bridgetown with a girlfriend and neither had ridden on motorcycles before but wanted to as I remember it. So Andy and I hooked them with rides on the Valks.

Looks like I've got some pics from the "Blue/Grey Ride" mixed in where they shouldn't be.

Sorry for any confusion it causes.

Thanks for sharing feller. 2009 was the last year and the first VRCC event I attended, I think I had a Shadow at the time.

Great pics!  I was in one of them with the Valk rig, along with Six2Go.  For me those were the best of times.  The CBR was well organized by Doc.

Lots of riders now that have left the VRCC, more or less.  KCK, Highlander, Doc, Mojo, Highbinder and Lady Draco, Navy Dad, Ratdog, Hollywood who presided over the wedding of Highlander.and RJ with his yellow trike, now deceased.

Here's a pic of Doc, Highlander, and one other, trying to get the PA to work at Highlander CBR wedding.

Always hoped another VRCC member in the area would step-up to keep " The Covered Bridge Ride " alive ... Didn't happen .... Same could be said about the Nov. " Dragons On The Beach " in Florida ride that we went to every year and " The Cheaha Mountain Rally " in Alabama in the spring every year.   With the health of Miss Reba in question " The Fall Color Ride " in Oct. maybe added to the list of rides gone by ... Time will tell   Undecided

I agree.  Steve has taken up the slack here. The DRU is quite a bit like the CBR.

My sons and I have tried a number of times to get something going here in NE Indiana with not much success.  It's too flat. The Auburn Museum ride was one of them.  We had great riders but not many, it didn't catch on.  Brian (Fudgie) also tried .  Southern Indiana has the roads, we don't.

Here's a pic of those that came to the ACD museum ride.  We had a nice time.

We do have one event every year only 500 feet from my door. It's a ride for Vets, sponsored by the Park Board and it meets in the parking lot of the American Legion.   The ride is about 50 miles on flat land and it's police escorted.

I've donated each year and drop over to see the vendors.  However, it's about 98% Harley riders with the HD emblem everywhere.  Leather chaps, jackets, boots, do rags, etc ,all with the HD bar and shield.

I won't knock it but it isn't for me.

I'll ride with just about anyone but, those numbers are concerning, I've only got one tow rope and I refuse to follow in my truck and trailer.   Wink

What a bunch of great memories!

I made every CBR ride and always had a fantastic time, in fact I proposed to my child bride at one of them. She is still with me and I am so grateful she lowered her standards to get hitched to a guy like me.  Cheesy

Dave, do you remember when I was following you and the group ran into fresh chip and seal?  Your rear tire was throwing up a rooster tail.

It wasn't Doc's fault. He had ridden the route just before Indiana chipped and sealed it.  Typical INDOT.

That was some of the worst chip and seal I had ever ridden in. Oh yes, I remember it well!

I don't know why some of you don't come to the DRU. You seem to have made the CBR every year but no shows at the DRU. Steve and I have talked extensively about doing another CBR but the roads have not been well maintained and are truly shitty. Steve did take the weekend that Doc Moose used for the CBR. Doc Moose was also involved in letting us have this weekend in September.  Unless the roads get better I can not forsee having another CBR.

You guys put on a great ride with great roads. I intend to be there again this year. You are right about the roads in this area (CBR area) now. Most of the highways are OK but the secondary roads are covered with what appear to be open horse graves. The county just came by my house last week and turned the open horse graves into sharp cornered bumps, then covered it all with gravel.  Angry

It's even worse here in NE Indiana. The county has chipped and sealed most asphalt roads.  My favorite slightly curvy asphalted North River Road has been chipped but not sealed.  It was the favorite of bicyclists but now is gravel , not suitable for cyclists or motorcycles.

I'm with Gavin.  Steve has done a good job in putting on a nice ride in Indiana.  I enjoyed being there in my Miata and meeting up with my friends.

There you have it from people local to the CBR. Roads are crap and unless this issue gets fixed I will not put my bike or anyone else's bike through that torture. ACBR might do good the first year bit after those roads I bet more than half wouldn't show back up the next year. And I don't want to be known as the guy who put on a ride with horrible roads. I'm sure Steve would agree with me.
