I have driven straight thru (car not cycle) on way home from Alabama/northern Florida Gulf Shores area to southern WI so about same distance as from NY about give or take.  Can be done but those last 2-3 hours was driving me BATTY..  Angry   I would not have been able to drive straight thru some 22+ hours though if in southern Florida or northern WI NO WAY.

First, I recommend he cut down on the coffee.  Grin

Second, so he should get a plane ticket and fly himself.  It's not like the airlines give discounts for multiple brothers.

Once drove straight through from Detroit to Key Wierd in my Ford van, 30 hours.  Three guys taking turns, one mattress.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it was still a blurr.  Greatest month of my life down there.  I even got asked out on dates and to dance all the time.  That was new.... but, no thanks guys.  Any of you guys got a sister?    Grin

Coffee - maybe but I have met a lot of New Yorkers wired this way.  None on this site.

1982 I went to ski in Vail Colorado with my sister and her friends from CA,  by way of 3 days in Vegas First.  Detroit to Kingman AZ, ate in the car, about 36 hours straight.  I can't drive 55 time. I remember rolling on the 40 through TX panhandle and NM trucks were in convoys doing 80.  I jumped in with them.  I was so wired from the driving I still felt like I was moving when I got out.  It took me 8 hour to calm down to fall asleep.  I have no idea what that is called, but I swore I would never do it again and I have not.

love it Gary

I used to drive at least twice a year straight thru when my eyes were better. Still think that was the beginning of my eye misery

Usually I would back my car up against the back side of an overpass and nap for an hour or two in South Carolina.  Never had any cop stop to look as I was out of view until you pass me and no lights  : )

21 hrs to Miami is my best time in the 57 Olds burning high test gas,
17 hrs to the campus in Gainesville (best time in 73 Monte Carlo)  and in a 67 Dart 273 baby V8 20 hrs to west palm

We did it a few times in the carvan but by the time we had 3 kids we leave after I work a full day then stopped around Rocky Mount. Frankly with 3 little ones I would have been better just staying in the car but momma needed to lie down.

We can fly for 250 round trip from 20 minutes away from my house now, no more driving for me !
Tolls and gas and food is that much or more plus if you have any mechanical trouble you are S O L.

All the snow has finally melted off of the Challenger.  Gonna remove the cover Sat morning and hose her down to get any soot that got  through the cover over the past 4 months off the car.  Will dump out the old oil as well.  Ordered new oil (nobody locally has the recommended) and filter that will be here mid next week.  Then a good detail, a couple of short hits around town and some secluded roads to warm up the tires, and she'll be all set for the haul down south.

Don't get to spend a lot of time with my brother, so I'm really looking forward to this trip.  Maybe see the parents for 5 days then meander a little on the way back.

One of my "less brilliant" moves / stories ---

In May '88, the ship I was stationed (USS McInerney FFG8) was in Boston MA, finishing up a scheduled overhaul that upgraded our combat systems. At the end of a typical 12 hour day, I had dinner in the wardroom (officer's mess), then took off for Jacksonville - FLORIDA. By myself, drove 25 hours straight through (with a couple stops for naps, plus food and gas stops). The future wife was staying with friends of ours who were stationed at NAS Jacksonville, we had furniture from This End Up being delivered from Orlando - and we didn't have an apartment yet ! I showed up at least a day sooner than she was expecting - dead tired. Found a new apartment , signed the lease, and then I had to fly back to Boston.

Yes I had a bike trailer taking my then 1981 CB750F. I THink I drove down with it on that trip.

This car doesn't have a hitch for my trailer.  The only thing I have with a hitch on it is the Valkyrie!  Pulled a simple utility trailer with my daughter's camp trunk and a cooler on it to Inzane in Michigan.

Lol....better than that. Your wife could have drove the car and you could have ridden the bike down!
