Hillbilly Highway 3, Ride and Motel Information for Memorial Day Weekend!

We had a great scouting ride over the weekend and I'd like to thank everyone who made it out.

In the wise words of my good friend Paul Mull AKA (Wimp) "I road more curves this weekend than I have in my 60+ years of riding motor-sickles"

The ride will be over Memorial Day Weekend. Meet and greet at the motel Friday May 26th, ride on Saturday the 27th, head home Sunday the 28th

The motel is about 50% renovated, that being said some rooms are better than others. We had 10 folks stay there over the weekend and nobody was itching from bed bugs. In the case of overflow, there is a Hampton, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Daniel Boone Motor Lodge, and Brookshire Inn a few miles down the road in Pikeville

Kickstand up at 9:00 am Saturday in the parking lot of the Hatfield McCoy Lodge. We have one hell of a route picked out! I hope everyone can make it out and enjoy the beautiful hillbilly scenery of Kentucky and West Virginia.

If you haven't already, I would suggest watching the Hatfield & McCoy mini series again. We will be going by various area where feud events took place.

The execution of Randall McCoys 3 some - Around Matawan WV.
Devil Anse Hatfield's Burial Site - Sarah Ann WV

Also, a movie made in the late 80's called "Matewan" is also a great film to watch and learn some history of the Matewan Massacre and the start of the Mine Wars.

They are filling up fast so if you're thinking about coming don't sit on the fence too long.

You can trust me on this they are all smoking room no matter if it has the little sticker on the door... Glad you are coming you will love the roads in that area.

Well, looks like the motel is filled already.

There are plenty of overflow motels just down the road. The Brookshire and Daniel Boone are the other two mom and pop locations to choose from, if you don't want to pay the price for the Hilton's and Hollidays Inn's.

Trish and I booked a room at Brookshire Inn at $92 a night including taxes, which google says is about 5-6 miles from ground zero. Thanks Reb for the heads up on the hotel and thanks a lot for putting the ride together. Sounds like a lot of fun.
