Replace the battery

The battery in my I/S finally gave up the ghost.  I charged it when I put the bike away for the winter then put the trickle charger on it once during the winter.  When I pulled the bike out yesterday it was basically dead.  It's been in there since i bought the bike so I had no idea how old was.  When I pulled it out to exchange it I found the date sticker on the battery, 2006.  I guess 10 years isn't bad, the longest lasting AGM I've ever had.  

For those interested it was a "Bikers Choice" Battery.

10 years doing good, most I ever got was 5 years (pushing 6) out of my YUASA batteries that cost around 75 bucks or so each thru amazon.  I say if you get anything more than 5 years you got your moneys worth out of a battery.

I avoid cheaper ones though since done that once only lasted 3 riding seasons/years.

I would never get 10 years out of a battery lol.  I change mine after about 3.  If its reading strong on the volt meter I could see going 4 maybe 5 years.  If I ever hit 5 years on a battery its getting changed no matter how good its doing because them buggars can quit on a dime at that age and there's no guarantee about where you might be when that happens.

Which kind of charger did you use? I originally had a Tender Jr. Said battery was unchargeable. Went out and bought a Cteck 3000, and never looked back. It even worked on the said "dead battery", and I continued using it for another 2 years.

Got 12 yrs on my 2003 st1300 original battery. Then replaced and got one month. Then weeks on next. Fourth a charm. Go figure.

Tender Jr. had it for a few years now, I'll have to check into the cteck.
