I don't know. It was probably pretty quick and relatively painless. It is a gruesome way to go, no doubt.

I read yesterday that a decapitated head stays conscious for 20 seconds. That has to be a long time.

Its very hard to see a wire stretched across the road and if you are paying attention to everything else then its understandable how this happened. He was more than likely conscience and aware till he passed out.

There is page for donations to the widow (she is expecting a baby): https://www.gofundme.com/fabian-zepedas-memorial-donationsJust donated 30 bucks (not much, but it is something). Nothing can remedy the loss of a loved one, but the last thing that should be in the family's mind is being short on money.

Probably riding a sport bike. A fairing or windshield might have saved him. How gruesome. We always put ourselves out there when we ride. Sad.

A wire across the road should e regarded as 1st degree murder. Period. With a 1 appeal option. Appeal to the hangman for the correct drop. I stopped riding dirt bikes here because I saw a glint ahead of me, it was a wire. We have cartel stuff here though.

The wire across the road was a result of an accident. You want to charge the driver who hit the pole with 1st degree murder?

Had a Comcast cable wire skip off the top of my helmet once (truck comin' other way had jus' pulled it off the house & it got caught up in a tree). Barely saw it in time to duck. I'm pretty sure even at 40mph it woulda ripped my head clean off had it been a few inches lower. I stopped in the middle of the road a few feet after it happened, went back & got it untangled from the tree, rolled it up & laid it in the mans yard so no one else would get hurt.
Shame this Brother didn't get as Blessed as I did that day ('specially with a baby on the way) but like I've always said, animate or inanimate, it's all actively tryin' to kill ya! R.I.P. Bro.

Many years ago, I'm riding down a little 2-lane, and a 2-3 kids on each side of the road, make like they are pulling a rope (or something) tight across the road. I'm all over the brakes and stopped squawking tires, and they are laughing their asses off. There was no rope (or anything), just pantomime. I was pretty POed, but there's no percentage in spanking other's kids (they had it coming). They were looking for anger and fury or a chase, so I gave them nothing but a stare, and motored on.
I did some pretty stupid stuff at that age too.

I can't even imagine what that ride was like......thoughts for a full recovery. I read another article that said he "broke several bones and was in critical condition"....
