I got my lifetime fogey pass to most Nat'l Parks and other places a while back.  Ten bucks for a lifetime is a good deal (considering just 1-3 days on Skyline Drive is $15).

I got mine for $10 at the Skyline Drive gate, if you do it on-line or in the mail, it's $20.

Looks like it's going up to $80 later this year.  So if you're interested, and eligible, act soon.

I got mine in 2008, it was $20 back then no matter how you got it.  Still a great deal...

Had no idea of this bargain.  I would have to lie and up my age since 62 will not start until end of Dec.  Is one allowed to up their age when conventional wisdom says to lie it down?

It's interesting how gate attendants treat this card.  Some take it and scan it into their system.  But at at least one time, I announced that I had the card while reaching for my wallet and the attendant looked at my grey hair and quickly waved me on through.  She never saw it.  I've used the senior pass at least once a year...

Yeah it's great when they take one look at you and say (to themselves) yeah, he's old wave him through.

There was a time when my wife (decade younger) was carded at every liquor establishment we ever entered (up to 30+).  I never was.  I'd reach for my wallet and the guy would glace at me and .... don't bother.  This always amused her greatly.

Almost as amusing as the guy who says... it's nice you taking your daughter out for the evening.

I got my Card in 2008 for $10 at the gate of a National Park.  Use it 4-8 times a year since then.  Do have several places within 150 miles of here where I can/have to use it.  Also helps to decrease the price of some federal and state campgrounds.  So was well worth the $10.  Probably would be worth pay a lot more if you are planning on visiting National Parks.

In some places I have just taken the card out of billfold and held it up, others want to scan it.

Thanks for the tip Jess.  I just dropped today's plan and took a ride up to Morrison to get mine.  Got a couple stickers for the bikes too - they have to be replaced periodically while the current ones are good until Dec '18.  I note, used to be, an annual family pass you bought at the gate was good for 2 bikes, only one of us had to show the pass.  This pass says specifically "one vehicle" and even "one motorcycle", though if it's a car everyone in it gets in on the senior's pass. I'm thinking that's up to the discretion of the gate keeper.  We'll see.  I have 2 stickers - the wife will be riding a bike with a sticker on it.  She's not quite up to the age yet.  I note also, a few years back I was just about to get my senior lifetime pass when they bumped the age requirement up past my age.  Now they've dropped it down several years again, after I bought passes for those years I got screwed out of.  Reminds me of when Nixon froze the E4 promotions right when I was being promoted.

Big difference, Indiana is now charging 25 bucks for an ANNUAL senior pass for Indiana state parks.

It started at about 8 bucks but it's tied to entrance fees.  They go up, it goes up.
