I'm unsure as to the reference to muslim migrants. Nothing in the article said anything about muslims. Oakland is a rough community with poor blacks and Hispanics. A street gang is probably to blame.
Too bad they don't come over to AZ and ride the light rail system. The outcome would be different.

Agreed, I don't understand the Muslim connection. I guess the OP is saying this is what they do in Europe, and they are doing it here now. That seems a pretty big stretch. In my time in the area while in the Navy, it seemed the thugs of that area couldn't think beyond their neighborhood. Much less the rest of the country or other countries. Or maybe now we've gotten to the point where even Blood & Crip activity is going to be the fault of ISIS. I do know if I had to ride the BART thru Oakland I would have a weapon on me regardless of the legality. |

Couldn't carry a firearm on the DC Metro either.
Carried a real nice knife though.
Daytime riding was usually pretty safe, but there were a few notable exceptions.
I hate being confined in one one car with no escape possible.
A gang of youths like this (or any gang) should be discouraged with extreme prejudice.

<start sarcastic font> Now Rob, you do realize that if you carried you would be obligated to follow California Concealed Carry Law. And you know, that EVEN if you did get a CCW (only 80k among 30,000,000 people) you would be mandated to carry the magazine separate from the actual weapon.........<end sarcastic font> One of the many reasons I left CA and really don't have much desire to visit relatives that are still there...... |

This is likely a by-product of social media. Some knothead gets an idea and rounds up the crew and away they go. The BART system and other systems like it must have quick response security to put down this kind of attack and put it down hard. Well armed and trained security with orders to use deadly force on those attacking their passengers.
I found it rather incredible that in the report it said that the video footage would not be made public because some of the attackers were minors. These minors were in a public place terrorizing passengers on a public train. Shouldn't be such protections for such actions. Doesn't matter who you are.

Jim, you are correct. I would be obligated. I have been known to not always live up to my obligations. Seriously though, I do get it. I'm just saying if I was forced to ride the BART anywhere from Richmond south to Oakland laws be cursed. Actually I really like the Bay Area. Most of it I feel very safe in. That area not so much. How's the orphaned bike coming along ? |

I was also incredulous about that. They said because some of them appeared to be juveniles.  WTF ! Publish the pics, catch the punks. And if it turns up some of them were under 18, make a public apology in the newspaper for hurting their sensibilities. |
