Figured out how to resize pics on paint again
seems I forget regularly

Anyway about a week or so ago I said I made a strawberry tower
The strawberry plants my father had given me were taking over the garden so I was tasked with removing some of them (without killing them)
This was my solution, a pallet from a local store, I cut 18" pieces from a pine 1x4 and made 5 levels for the plants. Also I cut holes for 1/4 " drip line so I got 30 plants in the pallet. I stapled some old landscape fabric doubled over against the back to keep the soil in and to also keep the water that is dripping down from escaping to the next level down. It is now covered with bird netting. I didnt put anything on the bottom level so the plants wont touch the ground where slugs could eat them. They are now filled with white flowers
Before the end of the summer I will make at least one more of the towers which are dug about 8" into the ground so they cant fall over

So far I have growing under bird netting beets, broccoli, broccoli rabe, carrots, cauliflower, regular and red russian kale, several kinds of lettuces, collards, onions, snap peas In other beds I have paste, beefsteak and cherry tomato, zucchini and a 4x8 bed of garlic that was planted in the fall. The butternut squash and yellow squash which were started under lights in the house will go in when all danger of frost is past (May 20) Pole beans will direct seed along the trellises.
I find the gardening relaxing and try to do it around 6am before working out. Anyone else tending a garden this year?

Those are comfrey plants growing next to the garlic bed in front of the strawberries I cut some old pvc tubing for frame for the bird netting. If it snows or deep frost is threatened (boy I hope not ) I can put a tarp over the tubing On the porch ledge is about 100 zinnias ready to go in the flower garden which is between the fenced garden and the street Bonnies medicinal herb garden is right in front of the porch
