I always like the Pied Pipers so this morning took a trip down memory lane. Take a listen, love the oldies. They can sing without shouting which seems to be only method known today.

John , when we were young , the big band sound was heard in our home. We listened to Gene Autrey and most music from the 30's and 40's. I still like the old music. They were songs that could be understood and had a story. I also love the symphony and classics. In the military , I liked country and western. The new country is like most other noise.

Aww John, now you did it!  Oh yeah, I remember when songs weren't frantic, you could understand the lyrics, and a musician was someone who could play a musical instrument other than a loud distorted guitar, and a band was more than three guitars, drums, and fireworks.   I associated with Glenn Miller's band, Tommy Dorsey, and songs like Tuxedo Junction, White Cliffs of Dover,  Pennyslvania 6-5000.

Then during my Service years "Till I waltz again with you" "China Nights"  (She ain't got no yoyo) and then my favorite with my wife "Always".

Hundreds and hundreds of songs, all sung with clarity and professionalism.

Tonight, I'm going to start up the direct drive turntable with the Audio Technica magnetic cartridge and diamond needle and get out all my old 33 1/3 vinyl and playum. The younger ones won't
understand our secret code, John.

I have classical, country (REAL country), popular, and even two direct to disc Classical organ music vinyls. ( State of the Art before CD's)

Too bad, that I don't have any 45's or 78's  left or I'd play them too.

Thanks, John. Smiley

John (and others) this is who I listened to in Korea over the Armed Forces Radio Network in 1953.

it was my favorite song then, even before I met my wife. Teresa Brewer's voice and enunciation was typical of singers and groups back then, much different than the "music" that we have now.

One more John.  Patsy Kline, one of the best, and "Always"   Although my wife has been gone for 15 years now, it still reminds me of her. Darn gnats.

62 years ago, we said our 'always' vows.

Ah yes, Teresa was one of my favorites back when. A funny coincidence re. Patsy Cline and "Always"....I sing that to my wife from time to time. She gets upset because she knows the task I've taken on and what it takes away from me....not being able to leave the house for days on end unless someone is here. I tell her "yes, I get tired physically, but I don't get tired of caring for you."

And....there's those gnats again.  Wink
