Is it appropriate to send a new Valk owner a Gremlin Bell if you don't have one yet? Shocked

Might be something to that. A friend an I bought ride bells once. After 20 miles i stopped ripped it off the bike and threw it as far as i could. He asked whats up, i told him it never stopped ringing and was driving me crazy. Last year he and his wife bought me one as a gift. Been quite ever since.

Bill, interesting thought. I guess you could say that the money transfer is a "gift" to the PO..
I am needing to get a bell for the project bike that my son is buying from me, but I don't have one yet....

Jim, hold off. I'm going to send you a couple. We don't need to ruffle any juju spirits by not having them as gifts. PM me your address.
As to the question if there is one already on. I believe it would qualify as a gift. At least that's how I interpret the one on the trailer hitch I bought from Bill. I only bought a hitch, he left the bell on as gift.  Smiley

All I'm gonna say is, if you don't have one on each bike by the time I get there, I will rectify that situation.    There are some things not worth risking and I don't believe in tempting fate.   Wink

I just kill a chicken and sprinkle the blood on my bike while chanting jibber-jabber and dancing wildly around the bike. Only works if I do it close to a river.  Never hurts to keep some of the feathers on the bike untill the wind blows them off Roll Eyes

Ha, I forgot about that.  It was on the hitch when I got it and I wasn't tempting fate by removing it.  Not that I subscribe to the powers of the bells, just not messing with any that may or may not be there.

I just run over chickens and splatter their innards all over the bike. Works well for me  Cheesy

I see we need a tutorial on bells and spiritual motorcycle applications.

You must not ever purchase a bell for personal use. The juju spirit of the bell does not take well to being bought and taken advantage of. However the spirit is Honored if it is given to someone and will protect them with all they have.

One gremlin bell per bike. Each bell comes with a spirit and if more than one claims the bike mayhem will ensue.

The spirit of the bell will not insure against stupidity. If Bubba is going to hold your beer, your juju spirit is sittin with Bubba.

Chickens may be used. Chicken heads must be placed in positions where they can see the road ahead. Usually the handle bars. Chicken blood to be used ONLY on the gas tank! (Or helmets too) Feathers on the Fenders.

Horseshoes on side covers only.

Rabbit foots may be placed anywhere. Multiple rabbit foots may be used. Rabbit foots MAY NOT BE used in combination with chicken heads. However they may be used in combination with two chicken feet.

It is important that any rabbit foot, chicken head or chicken feet that are attached to a live rabbit or chicken respectively, that the rabbit or chicken be properly restrained in a proper riding position.

It is important that a gremlin bell, chicken head, chicken foot, rabbit foot and horseshoe never be attached to one another. That would look stupid.

I lost my bell sometime last year.  Since it is ineffective to replace it myself, I guess I'll have my neighbor, Gary, save a head for me when he butchers a chicken...  Roll Eyes

That's my understanding, too. ALI is now sporting her third bell, all gifts... The latest one was sent to me by RDAbull, and it apparently has been really doing its job! Little things like that add to the luster and 'good feelings' of being partnered with our fine mechanical beings... Every time I look at our gal, I see something on her we've received from another, and pleasant memories are immediately triggered! Your friend will appreciate such a thoughtful and lasting gift...

I have two bell on my Valk.  One on each side attached to the crash bars.  Both were given to me.  So far they are not competing against each other.

Since Valkyries' are large bikes maybe two bell are not a bad idea.   Thoughts?

Three on mine, all gifts.

Just can't see a gift of friendship being a bad thing.    Thinking I'd rather risk bad luck, those friends are special.

I got a couple beautiful handmade bells given to me for a Christmas tree.

They weren't gifted for the bike, but they were still gifted.

They have a real quality sound, and look just like this (just a bit smaller), though I have never heard them while riding (I don't have Spock ears).

Clarification: ALI is now sporting her third bell, but she's only had one at a time! The first one lost it's clapper, then later the 'bell' was also lost. Yes, there for a while I was a ding-a-ling without a ding-dong... The second one lasted several years, but, alas, it too fell by the wayside somewhere in the vastness of 'out yonder'... I mentioned my plight on here last year, and Roger had one shipped to me within a couple of days! I did figure a unique and clever way to mount it, so it won't be for that reason if I ever find us in need of another one... At any rate, it is nice to have one... one that was a gift... it serves as a very nice 'reminder' of all things good in our lives each time I notice it!

So does the good juju go with the bell, or with the bike once the bell is installed?

When my riding buddy passed on a few years ago, his daughter gave me his bell.  It's on a bike I might be transferring ownership.

Is it proper to transfer it to another bike?

Your bell has already moved from your buddies bike to your bike.  The bell goes with the rider not the  bike.  Such a bell should be kept until you are ready to pass it along to another rider...

I buy gremlin bells from time to time to give away.  I hang a bell from each of my bikes that was given to me.  To me it's more about decoration and friendship.  If I seriously believed any of the superstition I would consider it a violation of my intent to apply what intellect I have been given to my understanding of life.

Bought a Triumph Thunderbird Sport years back... owned it 5 hours before someone pulled out in front of me and totaled it.

Took me 4 years to find another one.

New one has a Gremlin Bell AND St. Christopher metal.  Bell from PO, Christopher from my sister.  I've had that bike now for a few years.  cooldude
