I ordered a holster online and have been tracking it through USPS.  This AM it was said to be out for delivery. I got back from the pistol range today, rechecked, USPS said it was in my box and delivered at 9:36, ..............it wasn't.

Since I live in an apartment we have a row of boxes with the apartment numbers on them. My apt. number is 6, I repeat SIX.

I tried calling the Post Office, no answer after 30 minutes on and off trying. I drove to the PO and gave the postmaster my long numbered (21) tracking number.

She met me at the boxes, opened up the common door and found my package in APT 4, that's 4, FOUR.

The lady in apt 4 doesn't get out, her kids come by once in a great while to empty the box.

Almost every time that we have a 'substitute' mail person, this happens.  However, the USPS is trying to improve its service. Yeah Right!!!  Mail a letter in this small city to another person IN THIS city, and the mail goes to INDY  first and then back up here in NE Indiana.  Make Work????

My now x b I l hit dat nail on da head. U S P S is gaining an increasing share of a shrinking customer base. I'm 80 or so miles from Springfield Missouri Wayne and if my mail is local to local it goes to Springfield. Some of my suppliers have a choice of shipping methods/companies. I prefer FedEx but that is not always an option. I also like U P S. Up to this point in time U S P S hasn't pissed me off-YET. RIDE SAFE.

I remember a time where you could mail a letter to a friend in the same town and it got there the next day. Now like Wayne states, It goes to Indy then back and it might take 3-5 days to make it. They could save tons of money and time if they just use their heads.  uglystupid2

And if you had just decided to check all the boxes....... that would be the one day in your lifetime a Postal Inspector was sitting in his car watching you.   Grin

With your past history of misdelivery, I would have checked. (after looking around)

Years ago, my immediate neighbors and I started getting each others mail (yeah it happened rarely, but this was all the time).  It turned out two 5yo's wanted to be postmen when they grew up, and they decided to practice by moving the mail around between about 8 boxes.  They were too short to get in a couple of the boxes, and were observed.. one hoisting the other up to reach in.  Busted.

We elected not to prosecute.   Grin

Jess, I couldn't do that if I tried.  Each apt box has a door with a keyed lock, only the apt resident of that box can open it. The mailman has a key which opens the master door which has the individual doors in it.
The 'shelves' are numbered, the mailman stuck my delivery in the shelf two shelves higher.

It's a stack of boxes, doesn't resemble a mailbox.

I live in SW ND. Our mail goes 350 miles to Fargo, eastern edge of ND, and then back!

Actually I am impressed the Postmaster actually took the time to meet you out at the boxes. That's pretty good customer service these days.

You're right Dave.   Actually that's exactly what she had to do since there was a chance that we could find my delivery before the residents picked up their mail.  It worked out.

I doubt that the same story would've happened in ft. wayne.

I am an amazon prime member. I usually get what I order in 2 days and in some cases,, 1 day.
Yesterday I needed a part for my refrigerator and could not get from amazon. Walmart of all places had it online. 10 days shipping. And they wonder why amazon is doing so well.
