Trivia Question: Turn Signal

When riding a Valkyrie, activating the right or left turn signal causes the right (or left) bulbs in both the front and rear sockets to flash.  BUT, activating the turn signal also causes something else to happen.  Anyone notice what that might be?

No.  It is not a blinker buddy that buzzes in the seat.  It is an OEM function.

It keeps blinking until manuallly turned off.

If you look closey at night,you will notice that the licence plate light will flicker abit. I wired some LED running lights using this as a power supply and they flicker as well.

Adrian, that is usually due to a poor ground, and the turn signals have the poorest ground in the whole bike.

It is under the right side cover in the big bubble and GREEN in color.   The round  male/female ends do not seem to fit right.   I cut them off and replaced with the flat ones.   Been that way now about 7 years with no problem.   OH, no other lights dim when they flash now.

LOL we use alot of hand signals. Except at night of coarse.

It activates the turn signal indicator in the headlight assembly. 

While I'm here, how do you use the smileys. I've tried, but can't seem to get them to show up.

if both bulbs on the front are on at the same time the indicator in the headlight would not light ..
the little green light is feeding off the pos sides of both bulbs in the front it draws so little current it uses
the non lit side as a ground and if the filament support post every shorts out both sides will flash .. yes i have seen this happen more than once . so if both sides are blinking at the same time no indicator..

I'm not sure, but I think he meant  when both lights, left front and rear,or right front and rear, not both, front or rear, at the same time. Of course, I have been known to be wrong occasionally. javascript:void(0);

I don't know about everyone else's bike, but in my case, when the turn signals are activated it usually means that the rider is deactivated and forgets to turn 'em off.

The bike has a tendency to lean in the direction the turn signal indicates...

The "indicator" lamp on the headlight flashes in sequence to the turn signals. DUH!

No.  It is not a blinker buddy that buzzes in the seat.  It is an OEM function.

Something to do with the lean angle switch? Disable it while the turn signal is on would sound logical.

Sandy in the third post had what I was looking for.

Turning on the right turn signal turns OFF off the right front (amber) running light.  And turning on the left turn signal turns OFF the left front running light.

I did forget that it also illuminates the blinker signal on the headlight (standard/tourer) and where ever on the interstate.

I was interested in this as I plan to change my rear turn signals to three function lights: running lights, brake lights, and turn signals.  Seems like it would be a good idea to turn off the rear running light also when the signal is blinking to highlight the blinking.

Yeah, my fault.  I was out of town all day Friday, and then I do not get to the computer much on weekends.  I should know better than to make that type of a post on a Friday.
