Beware PayPal email

Received an email from PayPal saying thank you for your purchase. It gave an email address in England that I supposedly made a purchase from. At the bottom in red lettering if you didn't make the purchase click the link below and log into your PayPal account and dispute it. Turns out I made the right call and called PayPal. Turns out the people sending out the email was fishing to get my pass word so they could go shopping or charge my credit card. Watch out

Phone call from my area code ad the first 3 same as my first three BUT they did NOT show up as a "fiend/family" number. And who ever "THEY" were declined to leave a voice mail. Also had one of those-can you hear me calls from I'm guessin a female and I asked her about sexual preferences. She hung up on me. Far too many scams here bouts these days. RIDE SAFE.

At least once a week I get these "pretend" Paypal emails. Maybe 1 in 10 I'll actually open and look at to see how well they are mimicing Paypal.   Course - I haven't used my paypal in several years....

I had one today claiming to be from Medicare wanting to verify information.

Call was from south of San Diego, California.

Yesterday I got a call from Microsoft..... Yeah right, as if Microsoft knows my number!
I'm in law enforcement, prosecution to be more specific and we think that within another five years 50% of all criminal activities will be computer related. So, you better be prepared.

Had the same "phishing attempt.

Got an e mail saying here's the invoice to GoDaddy for 41 bucks. (Never bought anything from them.)  Check on the bottom if you dispute, etc.
I went to my Paypal site, saw no such activity, went to my credit card company (who I always use never my bank account.) again nothing.

Contacted PayPal to start a dispute, changed my password.

All is well as of now.

Anything I get that is PayPal related, I don't feel comfortable with, I "Forward" it to the address below. PayPal will hunt them down.

My rule of thumb is, when I get a phone call, I never give any info, or never do surveys or feedback.  Whether you give them one word or a hundred they are collecting information. Although! If I feel frisky then I play dumb and screw with them and feed them a bunch of crap and bad info. Maybe ask me for address or phone number, I will give them the Sheriffs Office or the Morgues number.

I had some excitement yesterday.  I got a call from "Publishers Clearing House"  I do enter their sweepstakes for fun regularly but never bought anything from them. 

So this guy calls me and says I have won 35 million plus a new Mercedes.  Well of course I thought it was a scam, but the dude was very convincing.  So I went along and the whole time I had the thought, as long as he doesn't ask for any personal information Ill play and see what happens.

So we are on the phone a while and then he says they have already notified the IRS and they (IRS) was faxing them the forms I would need to file.  Still very suspicious and waiting for him to ask me my SSAN or banking info.  But, he never did.

So after a long time of him being rather convincing he says the fax from the IRS is in and they want me to send a money gram for $1,350 which was supposed to be 1% of the winnings so they could register my winnings..........bummer, now I know its a hoax (which I really already knew) but it was fun messing with him after that.  He was getting really irritated that I wouldn't send a money order.

Do people really send money to jokers like this?  I guess they do because they keep calling people.

  I do not answer any phone calls that I don't recognize the numbers. If any one wants me , leave a message. I have been getting a lot of California calls lately. Some messages left are very convincing.
  I have learned to ignore them. A friend got a call that her grandson was in jail is Costa Rica and needed bail money. She hung up on them . I told her if another call comes in like that , tell them he is safer there as there are federal warrants out here and will be arrested at the airport.
  Mother in law died three years ago. Still get calls . I give them a forwarding address and phone number for a grave site in Wisconsin.

Believe it or not they do!!  Sad but true, I see it all the time on the news, Be Thankful you are smart enough to see through it, many people are waiting for that big score or opportunity in life.  Rule of thumb: If it sounds to good to be true, it is!!!

She swears it was very convincing, but she never got the Walmart money order.

I've heard stories that when they ask if you can hear them and you respond "yes" the scammer patches your affirmative response to an agreement to purchase some product or service.  No idea if that's true, but I love your inquiry about her preferences!

IF I screw up and answer some kind of scam call and I even Suspect it's a scam I M H O-they deserve whatever I decide to say. Even if I tell them to eff off. Heard the little click/pause of the robot spooling up. I would also think some others in this Country have a far better imagination than I do.  When they catch these worthless folks an automatic sentence of 15 years should be the minimum.  RIDE SAFE.

I recently received a call from the IRS saying they had a warrant out for my arrest due to tax fraud. They were nice enough to give me a number to call and get it all sorted out....right
