...must have a leaky needle seat.  Had hydrolock after work yesterday.  Good thing I am in the habit of always bumping the starter a little first.
removed plug and it was wet....bumped the starter and she squirted then started  and ran with the plug out.

A disaster averted.....Big Bill F please come to SC , It's time for a carb overhaul !

You don't need a carb overhaul. You need to fix your petcock or add a electric fuel shut off and clean or replace the needle valve and clean the seat on the offending cylinder.  cooldude

I have the Dan Marc so I guess it is just what's in the bowl due to a dirty needle seat......I wanted a rebuild because the bike is 18 years old and leaks sometimes between the carbs. Annoying and maybe a bit dangerous.

how close to the T is the dan marc? There is a fair amount of fuel in the rails and pipes so I put mine right on the T

I have a set of float valves on the way as all 3 carbs on the left side are leaking a bit, number 4 quite badly but never had enough to stop starting....

runs very rich and splutters until it clears though, I have also been tapping the starter just in case as well, parts should be here this week for me.

O rings are pretty easy to replace on the fuel rails Smiley

Have you tried running some fuel thru the carburetor to try and flush out the line and bowl ?  I find that works most of the time. But, keep on just tapping that little right hand button.  cooldude
