Located out west, had something I really wanted and I was actually willing to pay a little more than he was asking. And, since I have a FedEx account, all he had to to was drop it off, give them the acct. # and my address and walk out. Let them pack and ship it, easy peezy. I asked about PayPal, he doesn't do PP claiming he's been burned more than once so wants cash only. I offered a Postal MO, told him that's safer than just about any other forms out there. Once I offered that, I never rec'd. another response and I see now he's removed the ad. I sent a couple followup emails and was totally ignored, would have been nice to at least have the decency to respond and simply say "no."  Guess it takes balls to do the right thing these days, or am I expecting too much.....that being what I told him; I just want a safe and proper transaction, nothing more. Oh well....moving on.  Sad

FWIW....it was an OEM windshield complete with all the mounting brackets, and was a really decent price. Hope he got was he wanted....cash!  crazy2

Tonight I got an email from a member, letting me know he bought it. Glad someone in our group was able to pick it up. I was going to see if I could adapt it to my 1200 project, if not....then sell it. No big deal for me except I just with the seller had been more forthright in his communication.  cooldude

I had a seller who I talked to that day at noon to meet him at 6 p.m. same day at an agreed upon price which was his asking price.   He said give him a call first so did at 4:45 p.m. and again at 5 p.m. and just left messages is all.  So, I did not bother driving up to meet him in a mutual spot nearby his home apparently.  I see the ad later that night was pulled and A-hole never bothered calling or emailing me back.  He said he was going to HOLD it NO problems for me but a-holes are all around us...   uglystupid2

Did the member who bought it say if he paid for it in cash? Just curious.

I know some don't like using Paypal as a seller because of the fee but I've never had a bad transaction using Paypal. I've even offered to pay the fee for the seller on occasion.

Thing is Wiggy, if you do it right there is no fee. I've used PP for years and have never paid a fee except when I bought something through Ebay, and then it's a fee on the seller not the buyer.

Not necessarily, John. I understand what you mean by "if you do it right". That's when the buyer is asked to say it's a gift instead of a purchase for goods or services-and the seller is off the hook for fees. Then the buyer has no protection from Paypal like they would if it was a transaction for goods or services. For that reason, I've offered to pay the sellers Paypal fee just to have a transaction guarantee from Paypal.

True, I've done the same thing a few times but only on high dollar exchanges. If it's small stuff with low $$ involved and a problem comes up(happened once), I just refund it and move on.
