I just came across this story in my hometown newspaper. I thought it was very moving and worth sharing.

It is hard to say it was the best gift possible. One gave all for one to have some.

Awesome story!  The advances in medicine in my lifetime amaze me.  My only hope is that they haven't discovered a cure for cancer and big Pharma is suppressing it to profit from treatment.

Our own T-Bird is a heart recipient and though I haven't heard lately I hope he is continuing to do well.  We also had a member donate a kidney to another member.  Truly the best gift a person can make, the gift of life.  Thank God there are still good people that are willing to help others, with no expectation of profit, only the satisfaction of knowing it is the right thing they have done.

I agree, it takes a special person that is willing to donate. I can't imagine losing your 10 year old son and being able to do anything for anybody else. Those 2 parents are beyond special. The part of the story that stuck with me was that bond the young man and those parents were able to have afterwards.
