As expected, Had a great time ! Since I had never taken 6 across Pennsylvania I got on it just past Scranton Pa. To be honest the first 40 miles or so was pretty bad with lights and traffic but once past that as my cajun friend would say, boy howdy it was nice scenery, one lane each way, I had the road to myself almost the whole time. There was a spot where the road was one lane with a flagman. As I went thru I noticed two 3' wide boards and nothing in the center of the track. Good thing Rick did not take 6 as he would have been stuck as the ditch was pretty deep! Stopped several times at look outs and enjoyed the moments of grandeur An hour later maybe 2pm I found the signs for the Grand Canyon of PA in some small town but didnt detour there as I wanted to arrive at powwow by suppertime. Good thing as Chrome and 3W like to eat early. I got lost about 30 miles from Bradford and at some point I saw an elderly gentleman and stopped for directions He directed me to make a left at a bridge, go over a mountain on this little road with lots of nice curves (he was not kidding) and as I got to the top the heavens opened. It felt good to cool down from the heat but I am NOT loving the E3 in the rain especially downhill on mountain switchbacks. Chrome got caught in Hail ! as he arrived right after me. Rick was already at the hotel enjoying one of many cigarette breaks We had a nice dinner right in Bradford within walking distance of the hotel and good converation into the night Yesterday Rick had a good route in mind and the 3 bikes (Deb on the back of 3W's trike) explored the Alleghany forest area, stopping for a very reasonable lunch in Warren Pa. We then went to the Zippo-Case knife musuem in Bradford and I stopped in a very cool sportsmans wearhouse. Too bad I had no place to carry a canoe or kayak as many were out front. There is an outstanding restaurant in town in what was the Carnegie Library and I had a very nice prime rib as did Rick. Chrome and Alice who arrived just before we went to the Museum had the steak tip over noodle special. Chrome got pics and then we walked to the DQ for ice cream. Thanks Chrome ! My cell phone wont charge so it was off and I have no pics Got to fix it Monday. Last night we met two fellows ( 1 on Valk interstate greensilver 1 on 06 wing ) in the parking lot and also Fast Eddie showed up. It was fun talking bikes with new members and for some reason they thought being NY rep was a big deal until I explained that I was the rep because when Misfit asked for volunteers I was the only one who did not take a step BACKWards This morning after downing some fresh scrambled eggs and packing a couple of hard boiled ones I left at 8 and took 219 to 17 If you have not been on 17 it is up and down and sweepers, sweepers, sweepers for 250 miles as the southern tier of NY is one small mountain after another Made it from Binghamton to my house with 2 bars still showing on the tank. Best mileage was 41 during the friday ride, worst was 29 averaging 82 on 17. Once past Binghamton I kept it around 75 as there were at least half a dozen state cops hiding and doing a brisk business ! Just as I past the Bear mtn bridge it started to spritz and the E3 let go on a tar snake with a car right on my ass. I was accelerating on that right handed turn which is at the east end of the bridge right where 9D goes left and ny6 begins its southerly climb up the side of the cliff road and kicked my left leg and moved my body left to balance the bike recovering but my confidence on that tire in rain is about shot to hell now. Granted even Cobra's were sliding off the snakes in Wyoming but this was not a hot day and the road wasnt even slick yet. Anyway made it home safe and sound, Oh yeah, a special thank you for Chrome giving me a hand made Tie Dye Valkyrie t shirt. He should post his pics soon I hope and Rick and Deb its always fun around you both. Alice have a safe ride back to St Louie and good luck Eddie we really didnt get to speak much but hopefully you will make other rides If you were one of the many who cancelled, you missed a good time

I'm confused, is it that much easier to post pics on FB than here? Why are those pics not being shared on the Valkyrie Board? I guess I'm feeling left out because I don't do FB. My loss......... I guess I miss out on a lot....................

Nice read Evan I've said it before and I'll say it again ... I wouldn't put a Dunflop E3 on my bike if they gave it to me with free mounting .

i have had Dunlop E3's for the last 8 years and have had tremendous success with them. In 60k miles never had a flat and tire life has been fantastic. You got to do what's right for you.
As to picture posting,, i was an admin of a board very similar to this for several years. You could make the board so pictures could be uploaded directly, just like FB,, but it takes tons of space ,,and space is what costs.

ya know it amazes me. somone posts a ride report, in which everyone complains there isn't enough of and it gets turned into a tire brand bashing thread. whats next, the oil prefered by obama compared to trump. and people wonder why very few of us old timers post on the general board anymore still at the hotel so i will post about the weekend sometime this week when i get home. or not pretty sad what this general board has turned into

To be honest while writing the end of the ride report I was thinking of something Joe once said about Dunlops E3 and had debated in my mind whether to delete it from the post I figured, its what happened, its how I feel about that tire that I had no choice on (both the front which was only one available at Americade right before leaving for Spearfish) and the rear out in DesMoines a few days later when my favorite tire Bridgestone Exedra was perforated on the road. Ive a taxi tire in the basement which will go on next year unless I go back to the exedra, Yes its a shame so much is political and argument here, not enough ride reports and those pretty much always get into debate, I just didnt consider Joes response an argument more of a subjective agreement as to the gripping potential of that tire, I run Rotella T in the blue jug for those interested Something else interesting, at least to me, was Rick, Chrome and I all had extra alternators on board our bikes. Seems we are all old boy scouts lol Rick I am really looking forward to your report and Chrome and Alice's pictures. Only saw one pic of my and rick's back views on fB

But you felt inclined to add your gas to the flames and stirr it a little more. And you still wonder why the board has turned into what it is now? Gee i wonder why?

Tire and oil issues aside, I'd still love to see the pics if anyone took any that they can post here.
If not, I'll live with it. FB doesn't interest me and I guess I miss out on some things but, it is, what it is.

[/quote] hmmmm.. lets see, iv'e never been involved in a political thread here or on any forum even though I strongly disagree with some of whats said. but I'm confrontational iv'e never jumped on a thread and totally redirected it, not saying that this thread was redirected, but I'm confrontational I get along with everyone, but I'm confrontational I usually look at both sides of an issue, but I'm confrontational I could go on and on, but I'm really glad you pointed that out gavin, I would have never known that about myself. as far as a ride report from me.. think i'll go on my merry way. I would like to thank those that showed up and it was great getting togather again. it was really nice meeting new people and getting to know them. for me it was a fantastic weekend.

I've never attended the Pow Wow but have met several of the folks instrumental in putting it on every year. This thread sure made a U - turn with SJ's comment and it wouldn't be surprising if another annual VRCC event came to a close.

I sure hope not. It's one of the get togethers I've been hoping to attend once I retire. I've never put together a ride event and wouldn't begin to know how. But I'm sure it is a lot of work that goes unappreciated. I hope this can be smoothed over. Most likely just some simple miscommunication.

I got wide shoulders I can handle it however I made a simple comment .. You need someone to blame look for three wheels. I just added a comment. No wonder I can get more Valkyries together for a weekend day ride than you can get for a " meet " ... GO TELL THAT.

You have made that perfectly clear dozens of times, usually in a tire related thread. Tire discussions always(like oil)seem to fire up the troops. It just didn't seem like that post "fit" in a ride report, and the tone of it seems to be so "angry" when it shows up in a passive ride report. You are so right about being able to get more Valkyries together for a day ride than I can for a "meet". In fact, I've never attempted to do either. Have a pleasant day.
