Took my 01 Valkyrie to Ross/da Prez a couple of weeks ago and couldn't be more pleased with the work he did.  It's never run better and I'm much more confident of making a longer trip without the worry of a mechanical failure.  Now that I have it back in my garage and the work paid for, I'll say this....he should have charged me more because it runs like new.

Ross is not only a good mechanic but he's a good man also. I'm sure he's well aware he could have charged you more but that's not what he's about.

Glad your bike is running like new again.
Have you considered rIding it to Inzane next month?

To wiggydotcom:  I'm on the fence about the trip, not sure my 65 year old bones can handle the miles. However, I did block out the week as vacation time just in case I decide to take the plunge.  Da Prez is planning on it, leaving on Friday.

Melvin, it would be great to see you there but it's good to know your limitations.
If you do ride your bike, perhaps you could break the ride up into 3 days each way or so. Or, if you had the means, you could trailer the bike. You wouldn't be the first and there is no shame in that if it allows you the opportunity to get there.

Hey Old2soon:   Your brother went through my Valkyrie from top to bottom with an amazing eye for detail.   He fixed an oil leak around the alternator, changed the timing belts, found a broken motor mount, found a missing engine guard bolt, serviced the rear end and replaced parts worn from neglect, fixed my self-inflicted vacuum leaks, and Digisync'd the carbs to perfection.

I posted comments to let other Chicagoland folks know of a talented and more than fair mechanic in the area.

Btw, Melvin....what part of Chicagoland are you? I'm 50 miles west, in Yorkville-which is by Aurora.

Wiggydotcom:  I'm in Glendale Heights at the intersection of North Avenue/Glen Ellyn Road, work in Bloomingdale adjacent to Stratford Mall.  Past several rides have been around the Galena and New Glarus Brewery areas to get out of the traffic and enjoy the Wisconsin scenery.

Starved Rock is a good ride. There's actually some twisties involved(rare for Illinois). It's only about 35-40 miles from me.
