I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the FOBO tire pressure monitor system.

If anyone else is running them, I just want to confirm there are no issues with the sensors on the 90 degree valve stems. I do have the good metal valve stems, not the OEM rubber ones.

I've been running them on my F6b with 90 degree valve stems for about 11 months now and no issues.
The reason I went to the FOBO TPM system is because I'm running a runflat and want to know when it loses pressure. Plus I don't want to be crawling on the ground all the time when I can just look on my phone app for the pressures.

Keep in mind, you will have to remove the monitors to add air to your tires. For this reason, I just ordered a pair of Tee stems.  They were pricey but your FOBOs can stay on the top end of the valve and you can air up or let air out through the side stem. Since I'm getting ready to mount a new front tire on my F6B, I'll change out the stems to the Tees.

I say go for it, you'll like them with either stems.

Thanks. I had done a search and read that you had them, so I was hoping you'd respond with a thumbs up or down.  cooldude

So I ride to work every day, I work downtown and park in a secure employee only parkade, accessible only with an employee ID.

Got to the parkade at 0615 this morning, got back to my bike at 1615. Started it, got on and the bars were really hard to turn. Flat tire. Pull out my phone to check the pressures. It didn't see the sensors. I look, both sensors are gone. Someone stole them.  Angry because they didn't have a proper wrench to back off the locking nut, it took them a while of twisting, therefore letting the air out of my tire. Extra maddening is that he had to move my bike to get to both of them.

I went to our company security department, there's a camera recording near my bike. You can't see my bike, but right beside it and the exit where he would have had to leave. I am going to watch the video sometime this week.

I would rather have a nail in my tire and have to replace a more expensive tire than have someone steal my sensors and touch my bike.  Angry

The stupid thing is they're totally useless to anyone else. They're locked to my account.

Watched the security video...I suspected a fellow biker...because who the hell else would know what they are. I was wrong. It was a couple of punk kids, about 14 years old.

Feel better that it wasn't a fellow rider or someone I know...because that wouldn't have ended well for either of us. Just a couple idiot kids who now have 2 worthless paperweights.

Yeah, that would have been messed up if it was someone you knew.  Might not be a bad idea to inform the cops of the kids. This probably isn't their first theft.

Oh I filed a police report.  Sent them still frame pics of the kids with one of them holding the sensors in his hands.

But you and I both know there will be no investigation. The case was closed before I got off the phone.  And that in no way was meant to sound anti-police. I just know how this works, been here before.

Sadly, I agree. But, if more theft occurs hopefully they'll know where to start. I know if I saw these kids I would be tempted to confront them. Be careful and don't get yourself in trouble with minors.

While I believe these kids need a good beating, I can't be the one to do it. Especially on company property. With cameras everywhere.

However if I saw them where there were no cameras and they tripped and fell down a flight of stairs because they're clumsy, I have no control over that.

Sorry for your bad experience.  Embarrassed

On a side note, your private co parking lot is supposed to be secured, and it apparently isn't.  I might have a word or two for the security people.

Yeah, they used to have a security guard at the exit gate to let people out. Now they got rid of him and replaced him with a motion detecting gate opener, which stays open way too long and lets people walk right in. The camera there goes to a single security guard who is watching about 50 cameras, letting in couriers, taking deliveries, doing rounds, etc.

My manager kindly spoke to the manager in charge of security and the one in charge of the parkade. The result was an email sent to all 3000 employees reminding us all that vehicles are parked at our own risk and you should lock your vehicles and secure all valuables inside.

I guess bikers are supposed to remove valve caps. Probably should remove the tires too and take them into the office.

In undergrad, they made all campus dwellers (thousands) park their cars way out in a giant lot off in a far corner.  We had a pretty good campus PD, but they didn't care about that lot much.  Cars started getting stolen.  When my lovingly built (inside and out) 67' Dodge van was stolen, I had a (signed) letter published in the campus newspaper that said security was so bad, I proposed to steal one car a week to show how bad it was, and challenged the PD to catch me.  Boy did that hit a nerve.  I got a long interview in the interview room with some very angry men.  I told them I was not intending to steal cars, but I was trying to get security at the lot improved.  And security was improved.

And that van was never recovered.

Of course I could not get fired as a student.

You know, they make a small (portable) bike alarm that activates a really loud alarm if the bike is moved or jostled.  I think it was about the size of a padlock (maybe even made to go on a brake caliper).

Doesn't really matter what you do, the system is designed for the perps.

A buddy had his car stereo stolen twice. So he put a bunch of razor blades under his dash. Another (attempted) theft. Buddy was charged.

The sooner I can retire and move to the Yukon and never see another person again, the better. Present company excluded, of course.

I think SaskTel should give you a couple of days off since the whole ordeal is somewhat their responsibility... OK, maybe a bit of a stretch but it's worth a shot. Then you can just slap your OEM valve stems (your BC friends here will let you ride on them just this once  Wink Wink) and use that time to ride out to Grand Forks in Sept. to meet us at Johnny's Motel for the weekend. See how things turn out "glass half full"?  2funny
