In remembrance,
Lee Greenwood:
And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

Lee Greewood (and others) entertained us in a big hanger at Incerlik Air Base Turkey (USO), summer of '86 when that song was still young.  Everybody that could (and their families) attended, and it was the most heartfelt concert I ever attended.  Tears and cheers, and everyone sang the song with him.  You could tell he really loved to entertain the troops.  He did some 20 military USO tours.

Thanks for the awesome picture.

If that YouTube doesn't make your eyes well up, I don't know what to say.

Here's to the hero's.

In their eternal slumber may they all rest in peace.

It may seem as though their deaths go unnoticed but there are those which can still appreciate the sacrifice with which they laid down for their country.

Well, I did it again.

I served 9 years active (18 reserve), 18 more with USDVA.  Rode in Rolling Thunder here in DC a few times, but it's a nightmare of walking your bike all day in a half million bike crowd. So I quit.

But every year, Sunday morning, I get up and ride down around the Pentagon and GW Parkway and Arlington Nat'l Cemetary, just to get a taste of the big rally and doings.  And every year, I get caught in murderous traffic, and inch along and listen to my fan run.  So why should today be any different?  At least it was nice and cool for a change.

Word to the wise, take a leak, BEFORE you attend.
