I've been married for 39 years and my father in law was riding long before I met his daughter. Triumphs, 2 Moto Guzzi, and many dual sport bikes of differant flavores. Hodaka and Bultaco dirt bikes were always ridden by him or the kids.
While my mother in law was still alive they did a lot of riding around central N.Y.
He is 89 years old now. Yesterday he told my wife during a phone call that he really enjoyed the ride he'd just finished on his Yamaha 250 dual sport. He said the only down side to the bike was they seem to be making them taller now and his leg doesn't like to swing that high. With 3 knee replacements ( yep 2 on 1 side ) I'm not surprised.
Sure hope I'll be in good enough condition at his age to still be riding. Maybe I should settle for just being able to walk at that point.
Here's to you Dad cooldude. Ride them while you are able.
On a side note I suggested he look at the Honda Rebel with 300cc and low seat height.

Yup I agree for both of us.  cooldude cooldude

I ride almost everyday, work, church, shopping, leisure rides, exploring, dreaming about future rides. I really dont want to think of a day without riding.

This weekend I decided to spend sometime doing some of the things that the spousal unit likes to do, it was hot out and we didn't go on the bike and most times the norm is we meet someplace. Since the blowing on the bike is a bit much for her. My car for the most part sits and one time had a dead battery from lack of use since the spousal unit has her own car that she keeps in certain way. So for the car and her I decided to be in ac for the day. I'm glad I did it, and we had a good time. On Saturday I got out to ride a few hundred miles. It was hotter than hell but man did I enjoy the ride. Not riding everyday, is something I really miss. It does not have to be a long ride but to get out feel the air and just enjoy the sites and sounds of the surroundings makes the day more pleasurable.

Jeff, I know what your FIL means, it seems that saddle gets higher every year.  Grin I hope I'm still riding in another ten years, in fact....I hope I'm still here in another ten years. But as you know, it's not my decision so in the mean time I do "temple" maintenance regularly.  Wink  After the last three months of not being able to leave the house, Rita has now reached the point where I can do so safely. That means I can ride to run errands, go to the gym....usual stuff. Have to do it early 'cuz it's getting hot out there by midday.

John, it sure is good to hear that Rita is doing well enough that she can be left alone for short periods.

And yes, summer is upon us. But fewer love bugs, maybe the wind blew them all down to the keys.
