Appears a four wheeler may have turned left into a convenience store, taking out a rider in the on coming lane. Life-flight called in "severe head trauma".  Full dressed Harley on its side up against the passenger side of car. Car may have been spun 45 degrees from impact, looked like both right side doors damaged.
Can only pray for the best.

I t-boned a Altima that ran a stop sign almost fifteen years ago. Totaled the car my wing and my back. Not a scratch on my helmet. I stopped taking my kids when I was able to ride again.

Was the rider wearing a helmet?  If not, then he/she rejected the slim chance that you get if you wear one, but sometimes slim is all you need to survive and live on. angel

Question on helmet use.

MA law requires it.

I hope the rider ends up OK but as far as the helmet issue I hate them and will only use one if I figure I'll get in a bad storm or in a state that says you have to ware one. I will continue to fight against somebody telling me I have to ware a helmet and I've been a member of ABATE of Wi. for 24 years.

Yep, left turners will get you....one got me back in '03 totaled both vehicles. Cop said that he had never seen as much damage to a car without it being a fatality. I had a hairline fracture on my left heal and left thumb and my passenger aggravated a previous back injury...
Dont remember if the helmet was damaged or not. As a former MSF instructor I used to advise that folks should wear a helemt...not anymore because I dont really care, it is their decision and they have accpted the consequences for not wearing one...my most recent accident wththe hit and run left some small grooves in my helmet

I wear my lid even when it ain't required by law. My CHOICE. Much like ridin-no need to splain. I was front and center signing for the repeal of the helmet law in Illinois in the 70s. As a Country overall the gubmint meddling about in far Too much of our Personal lives. I PRAY the Rider is O K. I also believe passenger or rider under 18 should be Required by Common sense to wear a Helmet. And we all are aware that some folks in cages will NVER git past stupid.  Cry RIDE SAFE.

I do not wear a seat belt in a car even though is the law in WI.  Is only a 10 dollar fine and I feel just like a cycle helmet, should be personal choice, just my opinion on both subjects even though I do ride 99% of the time with a cycle helmet on except downtown 1 mile in my small town of 1100 people.  Some say wearing a seat belt is careless and not thinking of the others around me who want me to live plus more than likely less medical expense for insurance companies to pay if involved in an accident wearing a seat belt.   I say still personal choice/preference just like a cycle helmet.

Until they make it a 1000 dollar fine,  I can afford 10 bucks.

I T- boned a Pontiac Bonneville with my 66 Norton in 68 going 50mph. Not a scratch on my helmet, wasn't wearing one. When we made contact I jumped up off the bike and cleared the roof and landed going backward and broke my wrist and big toe. My son was born three months later an I never rode again until 1993.

Bad as left turners are, a rider must assume at every intersection that a coming vehicle is going to turn. You might get lucky and survive. Almost zero chance to survive a sudden head on lane swerve because of a texter/drunk.

Happened just past my place on 127. Friend of mine came up on it, Harley went up in flames. Rider had no chance to avoid anything.

If you do choose ( your choice ) to not wear a helmet or a seat belt you should be required by law to carry a 2 million dollar insurance policy and it should be checked monthly to make sure you are paying your premiums. I see people every day that feel as you do and then get in an accident. Brain dead but family refuses to turn off life support because Bubba is STRONG  he will beat this (not) and who ends up footing the bill? ME! And you because be bas no money family has no money and no insurance.
My $.02 and it wont change or make a difference but you do know your family is liable for the rest of their lives for your medical bills.

Wont help 100% but please put more lights at the front of your bike.

LED's are so cheap now that you can buy a pair of fog or spots for less than $20.

I agree Greg.  Let the rider decide.  But, then be willing to accept the results too.  I wear one 99.9% of the time.  The big crash?  Probably not too much help.  But, the little crash?  Gravel in a corner, losing balance when stopped, the 5mph dump?  Hit your head, may well be vegetable.  But, a helmet WILL protect in those cases. You and a car tangle at 45?  Probably not.

I am on a
Grey Beard forum.  It is sad how many "head injuries" are posted.  Truly sad. Few were wearing helmets.

I understand the sentiment, but where does it end?  Who decides what is "too risky" and what the insurance premium should be?

MC riding is more dangerous, maybe if you want to ride, you should also purchase a high priced policy?
