It took place on the east side of Orlando, near the Winter Park boundary. It's hard to tell when you're in which city....cross the street and you're in WP, back across....you're back in Orlando. The area where this took place is more or less an industrial section but really not a seedy section of town. Kinda rattled my wife 'cuz it happened about 3/4 mile away. There's a six lane divided highway(hiway 436 a/k/a Semoran Blvd.)that the street where this took place dead ends. The only good thing that came of this is the jerk took his own life, thereby saving the penal system a ton of money....not that the loss of life is a good thing. Earlier this morning around 5am and roughly a mile south of where that street(Hanging Moss Rd.) intersects the six lane, a guy was walking across the six lane and was hit/killed by a traffic. I don't have any details on that, but the news choppers have been hanging overhead for hours covering the shooting. Ridiculous, but you know how they are.....if it bleeds, it leads. But there has to be a point where there is no more to be seen from 6-700 ft. altitude, but they still hang around.  Angry

I was kinda surprised re. the shooting. When I said it's an industrial area, it's a really clean area....not the smoke belching manufacturing type. Go on Google Earth and look up Hanging Moss Rd. in Orlando, Fl to get an idea. At the west end where it dead ends on the 6-lane, you'll see part of the golf course across the street. The long fairway is in back of our house, which is the 4th one up from where the golfers cross our street. The large pond nearest the 6-lane used to have a good sized gator in it. The people living on the pond finally called the Fish and Wildlife folks because various cats and small dogs were disappearing. That's a par 3 going east/west next to it, we'd sometimes try to bounce balls off his head if he was surfaced. The 5 acre wooded area on the east side of the fairway used to be a camping place for homeless types. A few years back I was practicing driving balls into the woods, using stray balls that ended in our yard or bounced off the roof and ended in the gutters. Suddenly I heard some guy yelling all kinds of profanity my way coming from the woods. Seems the balls I was driving were hitting his camp....and him. I was really pleased on two counts; first....it got rid of the camper, second....it meant I was getting at least 250 yards out of my practice drives based on where his camp was located.  Grin

And just a wee bit farther North of Orlando we have had a string of armed robberies. Mostly in fast food places, except the last one.
I have been carrying every time Lesa and I go out but now carrying a bit more firepower in case they decide to hit a bit more upscale place than a FF restaurant.
